  1. I was looking for a entry level with an in-built phono stage, did some search on the web and this model came up among others. The reviews on this TT are pretty decent and price reasonable; the hassle-free setup and usage helped in my decision too, and of course, the fact that it is available locally. Read that this TT can be further improve by changing its belt, cartridge, or stylus. But the stock ones are decent enough, unless backside gets itchy later...and look for tweaks. Agree with Kidult. Get a budget one to play around first to familiarize with it.
  2. Yes, got it new from Alpha at Adelphi. It has an in-built phono stage so you can connect it directly into the RCA input on an amp.
  3. There are a couple of stalls at the Jalan Besar flea market selling second hand vinyl...going for $1 to $5. Can find some gems there if patient enough...seen a friend picking up really good albums from there.
  4. Got it from Alpha. The poison is already slowly seeping in....
  5. Ito, the 740C new is around 1.3k...may be lower now. The Denon TT is only 1/3 of the price...maybe you wanna go that way.
  6. @Ito...ha, ha...no...not selling my 740c anytime soon...still using it since I have quite a few CDs. Thanks, sghound...it is indeed a good TT for the price. Ease of use is a plus too...it is fully automatic.
  7. Ha, ha...thanks... It is belt-driven and comes with cartridge...that's why I thought this was a great budget entry level TT...and decent sounding too.
  8. errrr...finally succumbed to all the talk about vinyl in this thread...so decided to give it a spin (no pun intended). Bought an entry level, easy to use Denon DP-300F...high-end audiophiles will probably snigger at this product but due to space and budget constraints decided to get this...it comes with an in-built phono stage and thus can be directly plugged into any headphone amps. It comes with attached line out rca and power cables. Very easy to set up too. And the sound...wow...it really kick ass; this budget turntable is surprisingly good. Bought my favourite Queen album (news of the world) from Roxy and compared to the CD of this album, the vinyl wins hands down; so much fuller and warmer...and the bass is unbelievable.
  9. Got it today...got other albums as well...all between $3 to $4...all US pressed...and pretty good conditions... Got a couple of new album from there too...US and German pressed...only $10 each...there is a stall there that sells new CDs...a lot of US pressed, but selling for only $10-$12. "The Wall" album coming this week...Japan pressed?
  10. This is a great album... Did you managed to get "The Wall" album? Got this for $3 at the Jalan Besar flea market...US pressed...in very good condition...
  11. @ical...you have so many albums that I wanna listen to...
  12. Agree...lossless rip, will always depend on the hardware and media used to rip the music from the CD. Don't think there is a hardware at the moment that will give a flawless rip. CD drives on computer, I may be wrong but wouldn't it introduce a lot of vibrations and noise into the rip?
  13. heh...not really a fan of Nirvana, but do like some of their songs... Pink Martini coming in March? Yes...definitely will be interested in going to their concert...you going? Got this yesterday as well...acapella group singing hits from the 50's...great recording...
  14. hey..burger...how come so much time to listen to music? aren't you busy with your books and err...other extra-curricular activities? Got this yesterday...
  15. errr...Purple Rain by Prince? Seems not so long ago, to me...listened to it when you were 10? Your dad played it for you?? Not born yet??? (aiya, Ical, Denial is futile)...dang, you guys have to call me Uncle. Anyway, just got back from after two weeks' of leave...and so much updates on your rigs...you guys moving pretty fast...from dynamics to stax to LP...what next??
  16. Thanks. Will go look for it. Got this recently...a mixture of English, French, and Spanish songs...can listen to samples here... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MD3UG...&pf_rd_i=507846
  17. So...where can I get hold of this album, besides getting it from Amazon?
  18. Never knew she was a singer...I only know her as an actress...used to watched her movies on TV when I was young...
  19. Hey...is that Brigitte Bardot? Album must be really old...yes, she was really sexy in her hey days, and not her voice only...
  20. For watching TV and movies on the computer, I use the Grado SR80. You can get one on the resale market below $100. It is cheap, hardy and sound pretty decent. You may need an extension for TV watching if you don't want to sit to near to the screen.
  21. Heh...perhaps will make a trip to your place to try out your stax when you are free...much nearer for me compare to Kidult's place.
  22. Kidult, so you managed to fit Jojo's whole rig plus the rack into your car... Looks more like an audition corner of a headphone shop now...
  23. Really must make a trip to Kidult's place to audition all these stuff....
  24. Wow...has been pretty quiet in here... For me...no upgrades for pretty long while already, as you can see below...pretty satisfied with my rig...been enjoying my music more than ever...
