  1. I believe there were many members who registered to read the forum only, when registration was required in order to view the forum. Come in, take a look, some stay, read on, but don't post. Others find nothing to their interest and don't come back anymore. There are also others who register to keep an eye on the "classifieds'' forum. hence the low post counts. Anyway don't you find the forum having a number of extremely helpful members despite the few active members? I believe this place is a consideration of quality over quantity. If you try too hard to promote the forum, you may end up with tonnes of spammers who come in and post only OT posts, which have nothing to do with the topic the thread starter intended at all. We may have members who come in and post repeated topics over and over again because they have not bothered to search. And then later disappear. In fact I believe the above statistics will be further augmented, with even more members in the "1-20" posts range. We may even have a surge of members coming from other forums where the use of dialects is a common place because its local, not because their english aren't up to par, and applying that use of dialects here, not considering that we have regional members, or even US members who do not know what the hack they are talking about. Isn't it nice to know that there have been members whose english has improved after joining this forum(mychew )? If you take a look, since the beginning, the pioneer members have used english which is internationally understood. Would you prefer a forum with fewer posts, but every post has some quality to it, and where everyone understands one another, or the other way around? I feel we should just sit back and enjoy, and not worry too much. my 2 cents
  2. KSC75 Wonder how's it! Headphones can have different sound due to the housing, and its very significant. So you can't determine its quality through its drivers solely. Just like how same speaker drivers put in different housing can have different sound.
  3. The only problem is the trouble of unscrewing everytime you need to change batteries.
  4. Its really difficult to kill a phones due to listening too loud, because nearly all phones can handle a lot of power(earbuds aside). Most likely if anything gets killed, it'd be an amp first.
  5. Naruto is going to be shown on CH56 soon, this month, (forgot when), and I think its going to be chinese subbed instead of redubbed.

    DIY session

Q00, I'd have to say, that actually, IMO, DIY electrical components circuit and cable termination are quite a different thing altogether. The skills required are also somewhat different.
  7. To begin with, they don't sound good on TV speakers, perhaps besides being unable to hear the lousy tones and pitches, we can still hear that compared to American Idol, they are one heck of a major grade behind.
  8. Why are people using dialects in their post like this is a chatroom instead of a forum?
  9. No more places, only classified ads.
  10. With my specs on it wasn't uncomfortable at all, just that at first you'd have to get used to putting it on. Its not difficult to put on, but its tricky. A point to note though that my specs are the straight kind, i.e. clamping type.
  11. Trust me, the difference is very subtle with open headphones. If you were thinking about speakers, its nowhere near that. If you want the effect of listening to speakers I'm afraid no headphones can do it. If you like the way headphones sound, then the crossfeed may compliment that. If you are looking for something to make your headphone speaker-like, I think its out of the question. But I must say if you use canalphones its a very worthy consideration, though not everyone will like crossfeed. I know $24.99 is quite a sum so I told you to try other crossfeeds, e.g. someone who owns corda amps. I could have let you try but I'm busy for these few months.
  12. The effect of crossfeed really depends from cans to cans. Its something better tried then read. Less in-head is definite but because of that vocals sound darn awkward, and needs to get used to. Soundstage really depends. I don't notice much difference in soundstaging. It does make DT931 and KSC35 sound brighter, which i found a little unbearable. It worked well with E1. 3 words sum it all up: Reduce listening fatigue. That is, with canalphones. Some people prefer to listen with crossfeed on, others don't. So its really useless trying to say how it alters the sound. Try it for yourself, maybe with other kinds of crossfeeds (like Pinkfloydd crossfeed, Jan Meier's crossfeed, etc.) and get an idea of how crossfeed is like.
  13. sounds like the headphones out with crossfeed. It doesn't alter the sound. I do notice a volume drop (slight) with E1 but not with any other headphones.
  14. That said, I feel that the EX70 is pretty good after modding. Isolation is still better than none. Haven't owned/modded/tried a modded version of the EX71.
  15. Yes, all info available in the website, of which the link I have provided. It's relatively new (I ordered after it came out for about 3 days) hence its relatively impossible to get 2nd hand.
  16. This is Dr. Xin Feng's ampless version of the xinfeed which requires absolutely no amp to use crossfeed. Plug it into any headphones out and plug your headphones in, like that: Its really small. I received it in my mail yesterday. Here are some closeups: Can see a little of the innards here. Haha. (Click on any above photo to open a large version) Link: http://www.fixup.net/products/pktamp/xinaddon.htm How is it? It does what its said to do. crossfeed.
  17. 1/20 wow, thats a far cry from the 1/60 i usually can hold with digicams.
  18. If you're on a budget then what you need is a DIY amp, not portable amp. If you need to move around, with those headphones I'm very sure you'd always listen at places where there are power sources, hence there is no need for portable amp, except one which is smaller in size, and accepts ac power ( no need to use batteries ).
  19. Canare F-12. Can buy from LHS. Although its big it still cant fit anything like 2 coaxial cables together. One of the possibilites is mic cables. Another would be Cat 5e cable. I thought it was quite ok, but it was quite difficult to work with. And Cat5e is quite stiff. Hence I don't recommend using. For the oehlbach mini-mini I highly recommend it for portable use. However if your system leans towards being overly bright I might recommend against it. Or else you can retire in peace, at least for mini-mini cables.
  20. The oehlbach one from meier-audio is quite good, IMO. www.meier-audio.de you can also DIY either of the 2 using mic/starquad mic cable. (Coaxial or otherwise, it'd be nearly impossible to stuff 2 of those into 1 mini plug)
  21. yes he's still inside (at night usually).
  22. If you find the foamies troublesome, (which i find so convenient), I think flex sleeve is a better choice (compared to the grey soft flex).
