Rameish, Both. Do not expect much on my impression of the gilmore though. I haven't had an amp before so I probably can't tell all of you how good it is compared to other amps like corda, creek etc. maybe you will have the honour to do so after i burn it in properly. Maybe I'll post some impression of the etys. I've got the 4S and can compare it to other headphones I've tried. I think it is worth my time since etys are not really common in out island yet. I expect to sell one of my headphones away cause I can't afford to keep so many around. I can't be joelongwood!

try out gramaphone. they have both brand new and 2nd hand cds. they are located at raffles place mrt, specialist centre 1st floor and capitol centre opp cityhall mrt not far away from funan centre. or cash converters. there are at toa payoh, tampines. all around the bus interchange. there are few other cash converters but not sure where else. I think for both of them, the CDs are not arranged alphabetically. so you have to take your time to find all the good stuff. gramaphone has good stuff while cash convertors are lousier. If you trying to go into classical, there is a compilation of 5 CDs of various composers for $23 at HMV Hereen.. very good deal and the label is philips. There are about 20 packs and may be running out. not sure of the sound quality cause i haven't heard it yet. BTW try out david tao's 1st album, tao ze, blue in colour. my fav chinese album and much better than I'm ok.

well i had 2 hard disk fail on me in 2 months. i know it feels to have everything wiped out. but should be ok if he has the CDs and did back up for those he doesn't. hehehe.

what if your 240GB hard disk fails?

i think ablaze did the right choice. his cd3000s are very easily driven. and $1k is not really worth the last 10% in improvements with his revo soundcard. maybe after he gets a proper cd player?

what $800?? u can almost buy the Marantz CD17 and enjoy bliss of pure music. lucky i don have to wear glasses although i have slight myopia.

hmmm, wmp9 does support hdcd after microsoft bought over the competition(again). not sure if there are any improvments.

jasonhanjk, try muting all playback and recording except for wave and main. then experimenting with the 2 to get no distortions. my old soundcard has distortions when wave is more than 50% volume.

just talked to him again. antness said he holds the international orders back first as it would be easier to fix units locally if there is any problem. the only problem is antness keeping his mouth shut and not telling people what he is doing and ended up being accused for nothing like sovkiller. hehe. alright im less pissed off now.

alright i'm getting fed up. just talked to antness via irc and he said he is shipping them out on monday. i'm the only one with loop out added and he sure took his time. the last time i bought something from us, it took 1 week? damn fed up with the v2 saga. 2 months overdue and i could have grooved away to rameish's ha-2 long time back. they better be good.

ablaze, you've got to try out nick drake. an folk oldie from the 60-70s with only 3 albums. the first album five leaves left and third album pink moon has what you are looking for. vocals + guitars and nothing else. it breaks my heart to listen to him.

now that you've posted how much you hated it, i don't think anyone would dare to buy it off you. I'll always try to sample some tracks by downloading mp3s before buying cds. btw depeche mode sounds reverby to me too.

yea i agree with ablaze that with the senn 600, u just have to notice that there's something missing and keep comparing with other phones. once the veil is there, you'll not have the warm fuzzy feeling that your phones are competing with the best. notice the irony of warm fuzzy which kind of describes the senn 600 sound. edit: yep i 'think' it has shipped. antness said this week and looks like many v2s are shipped already. mine has additional loop out for my speaker system and it certainly slowed down the speed which the v2 is getting to me.

guyferd, try out foobar2k + mpc. MPC is supposedly the best lossy codec. much better than lame's alt preset standard and slightly smaller too.

yea i agree the 501 have large soundstage but no depth out of a pcdp. but i have an okay denon cd deck now and only lacking an amp which should arrive very soon now. Saving money maybe? But i guess most people go by our way (pcdp + headphones). After getting a pair of phones that suits them, they will look for amps and sources instead of climbing higher and higher to reach those r10s and run them out of a pcdp!

just tell that to ablaze and he'll strangle you. hehe. but just look how he is now. long and expensive route but in the end satisfying.
