  1. i'm thinking of upgrading my phones to the ones listed(except the w2002) above. read that the beyer 880s sound similar to the senn 600? does the beyer have the veiled midrange and bloaty bass that the senns possess? i really hope that they don't as i don't particularly favour the senn sound.
  2. yeap definitely. but MDs nowadays sound better than the crappy sony pcdp on the market now.
  3. fishball79 thats the reason i'm in the headphones scene now. i need to spend big bucks to upgrade my denon system but i don't have big bucks in my bank now.
  4. i'll be really amazed if they wore hp1s in the movie. the director must be an audiophile for the HP1s were not exactly cheap at that time too. the best headphones i've seen people wearing were sony d22. most of the rest wore street styles and weird protruding headphones.
  5. yeap i remembered ablaze said that you actually had some sort of a review already typed in your computer? i might be wrong.
  6. Well you certainly do not need to have nice tones all the time but forum is another way conversation and you don't see people insulting others in real life like you did in every alternate post of yours. As Rameish already stated above, he appreciated knowing what material grados are made of and was thankful for it. Besides, he only recently became a Grado dealer and you can't expect him to know everything at once. You do not see teachers insulting ignorant students right? If everyone were like you, you will get nothing but verbal abuses coming your way after asking Rameish about him being a grado dealer. If you do not believe in the art of breaking in, you too have no business criticising others in what they and many other audio enthusiasts believe in. Simply close one eye and one mouth. Goodbye.
  7. if its really that big, just place it on top of your compo? just hope that it doesn't flip over!
  8. hmmm my denon system trashed my older aiwa minicompo i had in the same room and position.
  9. sell off your mini hifi lah! after you've your proper cd player, your system should trash ur mini. if not, put your mini hifi on top of your cd player. should dampen down the player. unless your mini hifi is one of those gigantic sonys, it should be safe to put in on top. i place my integrated amp and md on top of my cd player.
  10. yeap be especially careful when burning the sony MDR 888. i killed one pair after blasting them too loud when burning in. So try not to go overboard while burning in too. slightly louder than normal is sufficent as per rameish's advice.
  11. well, antness said it will start shipping 8th march when i ordered. it was later delayed several times. now it should be shipping in a few days time? i have no idea at all
  12. can't compare for now. no head amp. and i don't want to try the revo with my integrated cause the headphone amp sounds sucky. everything sounds sucky through it. i would say it sounds at least equal to a pcdp if not better. my ears are not trained to tell differences between sources yet. i'll try the comparison maybe few weeks after I got my amp from antness. should have bought the corda HA-2 from rameish if not for the insufficent inputs on it. kind of regretted it after all the delays and inefficent communication. anyway back to the topic, I haven't heard of headphones with digital input. if there is, it will be very bulky and expensive as a dac is needed to convert digital to analog for reproduction. i think it is a better idea to get a normal headphone. Cheaper, less bulky and should have better sound as I doubt the dac in headphones will be of better quality than normal sources. probably in the future when size and prices becomes an approachable figure?
  13. well I'm not talking about crossfeed. tried the foobar crossfeed and its pretty good too. The crossover i'm talking about is the m-audio control panel under speaker set up. It has crossover from 40hz to 120hz. Although I put it in 120hz, 80hz still can be heard through my headphones.very weird. now its in off position. And the directsound crappy sound is solved. seems like there was some error with directx and the drivers. I reinstalled both and now directsound is in the same level with ks and waveout. for those who have no idea what we are talking about. it can be found in http://foobar2000.hydrogenaudio.org/ . A very good windows audio player built for sound quality, with minimal ui and low system requirements. highly recommended.
  14. ablaze, what foobar settings do you use? and the crossover in the control panel makes no difference for me. keep hearing the bass notes anyway.
  15. yea it sounds pretty good actually.
  16. hmmmm? both passes through windows kmixer. sounds the same to me. but has slight pops when doing something else in windows? will be using ks for now. I find it weird that it doesn't do 24bit using foobar alone. other 24 bit cards supports it.
  17. didn't see anything about dithering to 16bit in waveout in hydrogen audio. you have a revolution too?
  18. alright. i tested it using winamp and it has the same problem with directsound until i checked the option in directsound settings 'create primary buffer (for old soundcards, fixes sound quality problems)'. after checking it, directsound sounds the same as the rest. very weird though, not well implemented drivers? another thing is that revo is listed as M-Audio Revolution(emulated) in both foobar and winamp. what's happening now? how do you know its dithered to 16bit first when using waveout?
  19. well I've just got another soundcard and it's m-audio revolution 7.1 rev 3. preliminary tests seems to show that it is at least as good as a pcdp if not better. haven't tried it with my cd deck as i don't have an amp yet. been playing around with foobar2000 for quite sometime now. so far this is what I noticed with diff outputs: directsound: sounds muffled and has a lot of hissing. in other words, like s**t. kernel streaming: much much better with better separation and no hissing at all. but it doesn't support 24bit waveout: can't tell the diff between it and kernel streaming. supports 24 bit. When using either resampling to 88.2khz or 24bit, I hardly noticed any difference. Some questions. How come 24 bit can only be used with waveout? And why directsound sounds so lousy when it is the recommended output for win2k? Using Win2k SP3 directx 8.1 foobar2000 0.586 comments and answers welcome.
  20. finally. now Rameish has to change his title from corda amps to 'corda amps, beyer and grados headphones' . Who knows what's next?

Headphones are only a part of the journey. Wait till you've got more money and you will start thinking about speaker setups. For me I'll probably stay with headphones for few more years and will switch to speakers later on. The journey is only starting...
  24. I wonder how one balance a coin or cones on a headphone while listening? It'll hardly influence the sound since headphones are pretty close to your ears, unless you put the coins into the headphones and rattle all the way to the fourth dimension.
  25. yeap mx 500 are good. nearly there with the sony 888 but at less than half the price.
