  1. You are better off running the aego2.1 off the onboard sound than an external Soundcard. Any external din conversion won't be sound any better than off the onboard. and usb interface CAN ONLY sound better only through a whole new dac amp and speaker combo.
  2. Urm, well most of us here earn our own pay and are well over our 20's (or near 20s for the remaining few). Hi fidelity systems and cans are men's toy. LOL, at your age, it's your parents who won't understand. At ours, it's the wife who would make you sleep outside if you spend anything more than her heels. The misses screams if I ever spend more money/time on my cans than her or her handbags. Anyway, for electronic music, there's no need to spend over 200. You can check out sonys' v700 or technics phones. The lower range beyers and AKGs can't be beat for dance music.
  3. Why not just use sound check if you are playing from iTunes/iPod since it's ALAC. Normalize isn't possible during and after capture for alac as apple doesn't allow anyone to touch their codec from what I know so far.
  4. Which is THE reason why it is counterproductive. Some peoples opinion are swayed towards a certain trait of a can, others can mean a totally different direction. In the end, what you get is an even bigger confusion when you purchase the product and listen to it yourself for the first time. Some people find specific cans dry and boring, but to seasoned listeners, it might mean analytical and neutral. Others find it lacking in accuracy, but some find it fun and etc. You get what I mean. The statement of, "others' perspective n mine. so its a whole new ball game altogether " can only be applied if everyones here has the same set of ears, the same level of taste and the same listening styles. You will need to develop at least some form of listening style before this can be applied, as by then, you would have understood some user's perspective & approach to certain sonic characteristic. the above statement makes it worse. If you can't hear the difference in SQ, you are blessed with the fact that 1 can is ALL you'll ever need. Because it's really not going to matter to you so much between a $150 can or a $700 can. The difference in SQ between the two is going to sound only marginally better to your ears. Does it make economical sense to splurge 700 for something a 200 pair of can could easily satisfy? Now we understand what you are trying to accomplish, many of us here is trying to help you, and you wanting to know everything all at one shot is not going to help. Other than make you more confused. Anyway, I would like to know what you'd purchase so far. You tell us what you bought, and what you wanna understand about that 1 purchase. Helping you along that 1 purchase to a better listening system is better than you not having anything to build your understanding around.
  5. If yours old school, then mines an antique. Lol. Still using my old trusty panasonic 1st gen color phone. No camera, no 3g, no mms. and dead pixels at some corner. Functions well as a phone, and that's all I need and ever need. LOL
  6. currently nobody asaik.. and don't tell me now you want to get an IEM? Seems you are on a shopping spree with all the cans, iems, systems you've been asking around. Be careful of your wallet.
  7. Heads Up, DAISO latest outlet is at Plaza Singapura (dhoby ghaut). Last checked, I only saw metal banana hangers @ the scissors section top self. I didn't get any though so no pics. Just a note for peeps looking for one to join the headphone contest.
  8. yeah pictures will be good. Well, 4g for S$80 sounds good as a thumbdrive. Any warrenty?
  9. If i'm not mistaken, some people over at mugs registered with some bogus US address. And off they go with the downloads. It seems that the store doesn't track the ip of registration nor verify the address other than the postal code.
  10. well, I don't see myself spending my limited allowance on cans nor expensive gadgets at that age either. They'd probably be looking at the next new game consoles or something like bags/shows to show off I guess. Which makes me wonder, what's the current allowance kids get these days?
  11. Since you're listening to music while jogging, I assume it'll be long distances. Best to avoid IEMs totally for jogging as you will hear your own feet thumping away with your music + it's quite dangerous if jogging along the road. The sony mdr-w08 or any similar kind of earphones is your best bet. So you'll wanna avoid anything bigger than the size of a fifty cent coin that traps heat and sweat. Now you make me wanna go for a jog.. Off I go!

    AKG K81DJ

did some burn in with some hi freq sweeps and it does open up the mid range and highs abit (psychological maybe?) But the k81s are very efficient and I never run it on an amp. Just direct from headphone out. I'll doubt you'll be listening critically with these cans cos they really are "grooverlizers"
  13. 1) I grew up listening to Modern Talking when I was like 5 years of age before I entered pre-school. From what I know was during the 80s, it was very popular with the youth (remember the centerpoint kids era), and during the Mambo Jumbo era of 2k, it was OVERPLAYED and became one of the few anthems of "Zoukettes" retronights, hence that "ah-beng" affiliation. (yes, I personally find mambo jumbo zoukettes an ah-bengish crowd "trying" not to be beng LOL so pls don't take offence if you fall into that group) 2) Beckham had an affair with a model whilst he was here. It was all over the news. You'd probably missed it. Even a non soccer person like me got wind of it.
  14. It all boils down to usage. You BT more, or listen more? Then decide what you need.
  15. You can try connecting the IC to the power amp and leave the XS end unconnected. Is there still noise? Maybe it the circuit of the poweramp. Anyway, the proper way of powering up the devices is from source first down the chain to the power amp. Not too sure why, but I was thought to operate it that way.
  16. Looks like you already know what you want. The only question now is WHICH. It's better to go try ALL the cans at Jaben or Stereo with whatever sources you will listen it with and decide for yourself. Classical is a genre where many have differing taste when it comes to cans to pair with.
  17. Check the interconnects if it's securely plug in. Usually it's the IC.
  18. rockbox still provides more games/options than the current newly lauched 5.5g fw. I don't see a point in updates for the current 5g.

    Silicon Gel

Fungi won't appear unless you keep your equipment in dark storage for very long. Using your equipment is the best way to keep your items fungi free as UV light helps deter fungi growth.
  20. There are many possible causes of spoilt earphones. It could be the way you store them, inside the bagload of books/laptop which might cause physical damage during movement. It could also be the tension of the coiling, which you should minimise by coiling loosely or not coiling at all (ps the sumanjin wraps are alittle too tight for safe coiling imho). The tensile strength of coils is low, so make sure your cables are not tugged or twisted unneccessary. I keep mine loosly "S-folded" (a term of simply dropping the wire in neat "S" formation without coils) into a dedicated padded DAP bag, away from whatever heavy stuff inside. My old earphones stayed alive 6 years of usage till mould got to it.
  21. Don't rush to buy 2 phones first. The best is to buy something good and something you like. Maybe you could get a 1 MS2i with the money for 2 cans. then enjoy the music. Slowly along the line, you know what kind of sound you are looking for. Only then you go buy your second can. When you buy 2 cans now, most likely 1 will be under-used. Plus with the low budget, it's not worth to get 2 low end cans
  22. Not sure about shop though, but here's a guide. Changing IEC guide
  23. You're basically looking out for a mini to mini cable. There are many choices available from off the shelf to DIY. Since it's for an Aux input, you can get Cardas HPI in 6' & 12' length from Jaben @ Adelphi or for cheaper cables you can get canare cables which you can terminate at LHS in Sim Lim Tower. Else for hassle free buying, just get any from mac shop as above.
  24. yes, ipod suck big on battery life. At 320kbps or lossless, expect it not to last 4 hours on rockbox. worse is the Lineout on the 5g is not any much better from the headphone out at 80% volume. So honestly you can save on the lineout.
