It's the language used.. The more often you read & use the words, the easier it is for you to "recognise" the words. Such an ability is a proofreader's bane, I guess.... Hehehee

That's pretty hard to decipher considering the "length" of certain words. I don't think the trick lies in just the first and last letters, else someone might like to give this a try:

the trick is the first and last letter, if it is the same letter the harder to decipher......
