lekguan 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 (edited) go www.head-fi.org and do a search. IIRC most people prefer e2 to ER6. And its very hard for shops to let you test: 1) Only about 2 shops sell Shure e1/e2 in Singapore and Etys not many as well 2) Hygene problem. If they let you test they are going to waste alot because demand is low and it would not be worth it to open a bud just for testing. And possibly changing a sleeve everytime beacause of hygene. Hey maybe they should make everyone pay the cost of 1 pair of sleeve (the price they are selling for 5/10 pairs divided by that number of pairs) for testing! Rameish 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 lekguan, Sadly, service standards in Singapore aren't that great. And you're asking consumers to pay for the buds means they are not gonna get it at the cheapest possible price. Almost 90 to 95% of people here will go to a different shop if the price was S$5 less for something that costs about S$300 (I know this first hand). So sadly it's a Catch 22 situation. Nice idea though.

Blues 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 er-4p/s can be had for around 400++ if you order them from overseas. or why not visit my er4s for sale thread? I am selling it.
av98m 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 (edited) The er-4p is a much better choice for portables because it can be driven straight out of the earphone jack. You will need to use an amp for the 4s. I've tried the 4p and 4p with conversion cable(for converting the 4p to 4s) with my md portable. The 4p wins by a landslide. lekguan 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 not really. With a good amp, the S can be driven better. Eg: old sony PCDPs like D777, DE905, D555, .... But flexibility wise, P is better because you can convert it to an S.
adhoc 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 i own the e2 and it is simply fantastic. it's a middle of the road solution - not as good as the er4p, much better than the ex71. please order from overseas. you can get it from earplugstore.com in 3 business days for $20 cheaper than buying in sing. in addition, because you bought from a US based store, you are covered by the full 2 year shure warranty. the singapore retailer refused to give me any definite answer when i asked him abt warranty. cheebangpoopoo 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 regarding the hygiene problem, the cost of a pack of 10 foams in sing is 34 at wailian. Do you want to pay $7 just to test it?
lekguan 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 well, if I get to keep the bud. $7 is fine. Well, seriously, I feel that it is at least a possibility. I'd rather spend $7 to test than to waste my money on a new one.
Arcos 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 how does the shure e2 compare against px200?
cheebangpoopoo 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 E2 is about USD79 + ~20(shipping by global express) or u can get it in sing for 183 but for a year's less warranty. Px200 is about 95 from SLS, i think..
cheebangpoopoo 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 If you all are wondering whats the max possible freq response of the E2, this is the answer from shure. Yes, you are correct that there is a maximum frequency range that the earphone can reproduce. The testing methods that we use, however, use a coupling mechanism that does not accurately simulate how the earphone sounds when used in the ear canal. This measurement method only allows us to verify the consistency of the earphone for testing purposes, not to provide a meaningful frequency repsonse specifications. As an example, testing the E5 in our coupler yields a high frequency limit of approximately 11 kHz. Of course, this would appear to be a very "dull" sounding earphone if you just looked at the specification. In reality, through subjective listening tests, we know this is not the case. Many users comment that the E5 provides greater "detail" then they have ever heard with another headphone. For this reason, we choose not to provide frequency reponse specifications, as it may cause an unfair prejudice against the earphone. An earphone is very different from a loudspeaker, and cannot be evaluated in the same way. The earphone must be heard to be evaluated. I strongly encourage you to find a Shure dealer that will allow you to hear the product before deciding.
