sleep.gif You must have gotten the lousier US model. Mine has the optical/analog out!

Good thing you didn't buy my airhead eh?

a reminder to those trying to save money by buying your pdcdps on ebay or overseas. discmans exported to US usually do not come with line out jacks because minidisc hasn't exactly caught on there unlike in Asia. The line-outs are meant for MD recording(on the vintage models they were meant for cassette tape recording).

Well you just have to look carefully at the specs or ask the seller when in doubt. The US/European versions usually have a weaker output (hence the lower volume) and no line-out. We are lucky to be in Asia!

Agreed. I'm not saying you can't buy from ebay, just that you have to make sure its not a US domestic version you're getting, and of course that the item is in good working condition. Many of the head-fi guys rant about the fact that the panas they find in their own backyard have no line-outs.

If you really like the 790, I suggest you just save up and buy a brand new one, with ;line-out and local warranty from lucky plaza, you should be able to bargain down to less than the $190 I paid. Save yourself a lot of time and effort.

Here was how I arrived at the decision to purchase the 790:

At the Lucky Plaza shop:

Me: Uncle, I want a discman with optical line-out.

Uncle: Har? What out?

Me: The white color hole

Uncle: Orr....here *shows me a few models*

*I look at them, decide to get the panasonic because I've always liked the brand. There were 2 pana models, one is more expensive but can play MP3. I don't use MP3s so I decide to buy the cheaper one*

Me:"Uncle I want this one"*points to 790* "But can test first or not?"

Uncle: "Can..."

*After trying it out with my own CDs, I'm happy and pay up*

And thats it. tongue.gif Not a terribly sophisticated decision making process, but it worked for me.

I was selling my Airhead dude, not the headsave tempo.

Nah, not yet.

headsave was a typo.edited.

I guess the airhead still around...

Hmmm.

I won't buy the same discman twice.Though it really sound great.

Will be looking at the ct710/810

want to listen to the 'digital amplifier' that it keep raving about.

wonder if it is same as the mash system.

One thing is I always like pana players though the Iriver 550 give it a good run

Great Story.

Thread Hijack...

It's available on my set of 790. Well it's a consolation my judgement can't be that screwed up to select a bad sounding gear and recommend to my fine friends in this forum! blush.gifppth.gifhammer.gifhammer.gif

As and when it happens, it's time to retire for good! yawn.gif
