tropicalrips 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2004 is that an A47 configuration or Cmoy running 2 single channel op-amps N@Z ? looks like a buffered Cmoy like my variants
N@Z 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2004 I was told by the seller that it is a CMOY. I was not too worried about it as what I really wanted was the limited edition tins! You can have a closer look here: Maybe you can tidy it up for me
tropicalrips 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2004 looks like a somekind of variant too using the opa2134 as a buffer ? can't see what op-amp is on the BrownDog, one of those exotic AD series maybe? i can see the first yellow color wire (from bottom of pic) connected to the output of both op-amps though a resistor , so very likely to be an A47 how does it sound
N@Z 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 Now that you've mentioned it, it doesn't sound too shabby. It seems to drive the CD3K quite well surprisingly albeit missing in the details compared with a Cayin! I tried it with dual 9v batteries (it's supposed to be a single 9v for portable use as the second battery can only be connected from outside as there no room to fit it in. tropicalrips 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 does this means i can't use the Altoids tins anymore can Altoids really sue someone for selling their tins with other stuff in it?
augustineRS 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 like what that is written in head-fi.In a way, you are using the barand name @ltoids to promote/sell your amps. In a way, eating off their advertisment/promoting efforts.
tropicalrips 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 i'm going to repaint one of my @ltoids, its got some scars after attending the recent meet, maybe put in my own "brand" "Tropical Mints"
N@Z 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 It should still be ok as long as you don't do it officially like on a website advertising it, using the name & images of their product. Suffice to say 'mint' tin & what you've posted so far are mostly for your own use & not commercial purpose.
Q00 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 I thought that they would be grateful that people like us were giving their tins another creative use and environmentalists would love what we have done. I mean, arent we like making Altoids a profit by buying more of em to satisfy our amp cravings?
N@Z 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 Their thinking is the other way round, we are making the profit out of use of their brand name & images.
tropicalrips 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 is it possible to hav a "custom" tin, with our own designs on it i like the Altoids tin & other mint tins, but its not a must. i think it will be even more cool if the amps were built in "custom" tins maybe "SGH tins" or "HeadFi tins" or names of other headphone forums, we can start our own trend
