heady 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 Cool, av98m, can even see the colours in the wing. It would have been perfect if the eyes were in focus but I wonder how you got the shot in the first place. You got a trained fly to keep still for you?
av98m 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 (edited) I happened to be walking along the corridor with my office camera when I saw the fly. I took the shot hurriedly because it was resting just outside my boss's office! (thats why I did not dare to use the flash) Edited May 3, 2005 by av98m

av98m 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 Nice! How far did you need to zoom to take that shot?
N@Z 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 Thanks. I was at 200mm zoom, the reason it looked close is I was only a few meters away. It helped as I was behind a tinted glass window & the bird didn't see me through it. For this particular shot I had to PS the greyish tint caused by the window. Ideally I'd need something with 300~400mm reach to get up real close to these tiny & timid birds.
N@Z 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 I forgot to mention I also had to crop the image to make it look closer as well. Here's a few others...
Blues 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 I like the no 3 .. the shallow DOF helps to make the bird standout and less messy. Nice catch N@z
