Blues 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 btw, is it better to leave the cd player's main volume max all the time, or lower to 3/4 and increase from the amp which one will give better sound? Mackie 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 Always leave the volume to max. In fact the cdp will default to max whenever power on/off. Max line output from the source will give better signal-to-noise ratio. If U were to use an amp to amplify the signal from the source which is not at max level, U would also be amplifying the noise level in your amp as well, thus, resulting in a poorer S/N ratio.
