fuwen 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 (edited) Try the PA2V2 at US$64. There are few threads on this forum discussing about this amp. I think there are some DIY portables available also in the Classified section. Edited March 14, 2005 by fuwen
N@Z 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 If you're not worried about sound quality then it's not really necessary to get a portable headphone amplifier unless you're not getting enough volume output from your portable source in the first place. Based on my experience the V6 (or 7506) works fine off most portable headphone out if sound quality is not an issue. Nevertheless if you still need one, a basic DIY CMOY design headphone amp should suit your needs. Members like Tropicalrips or digi01 can help sort you out there within your price requirements. Also, a portable amp works best out off a line out. You will need to factor in an additional mini cable to connect from your source to the amp.
Mr Farmer 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 .... The phones works great but the volume is low when I listen to anything from my Notebook or when I watch DVDs on my Desktop/Notebook. Of coz I wanna see how an amp will improve the sound quality of the V6! Does it really make a difference?
RonTheMan 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 If your source has a line out, it may be worthwhile getting an amp. Not only will it boost the volume, but it should also provide you with better sound.

Considering the price, I'll rather get those tin amps from the internet. One thing cool about this amp is that it provides a nice carry pouch but other than that, it's really nothing that great. Are you sure it's available locally? Provide some links maybe? EDIT: Found the link to the local retailer. Edited March 25, 2005 by idkfa

auron 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2005 ehh...what is a amp for??
RonTheMan 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2005 An amplifier is used to amplify the sound from a given source. This is best done via the line out, thereby by passing the internal amplifier. It is also used as a means to drive headphones which are not capable of driven otherwise. The amplifier may also provide additional functions such as a bass boost or crossfeed function, although these are mostly in the minority.
