Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees.

Time can break your heart, have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure,

And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven..

beautiful song

Hi dgps,

I got Neue Musik from Tower Record, but i recalled that it was the only one left. It was priced at about S$46+, and came with twin CDs, including all of Yumi's top hits. When i listened to her singing, it evoked my memory of the childhood days .... wink.gif

Hi Mackie,

i have also collected the same items (by Monty Alexander, Police and Lang Lang) in recent days. Our musical tastes are very similar indeed. yes.gif

Recommend you to try Monty's Caribbean Circle offered at only S$6.99 (chesky gold disc pressed in Japan JD80) at Gramophones, Capitol Centre.

The othe SACD (63552) of Monty worth trying is My America :

On Lang Lang's performance recorded live at Seji Ozawa Hall (SACD-60524), i particularly like track no. 9 : Brahms' Ballade in G Minor, that displays rich emotional expression and fluency, blended with tenderness, virtuosity and deep passion in his playing. wink.gif

Vladimir Ashkenazy - Chopin

Ballade No.4, Polonaise-fantaisie, Barcarolle, Berceuse wub.gif

Decca - SACD Surround (470608-2)

It was made in Finland, June 1999, using a 5 channel 48kHz/24 bit PCM recording system.

Listening to Chopin's genres of piano works in Ashkenazy's style, you'll enjoy his technique of keeping tempo rubato in tandem with remarkable immediacy on those intriguing, deceptively modest pieces.

His delicated musicality and individuality put complete control of every facet of the piano repertoire : music just flows in a fluid and natural way, with mood shifting seamlessly between melancholy and exuberance, a rhythm simultaneously supple, abrupt and languid, vacillating like the flame under the breath of agitation, or like the corn in the field waving under warm breeze during summer. It is a beautiful experience of mastery pianistic skills wrapped with warm emotions and melodies from the space of my soundfield within. wink.gif

[/u]Sentimental hits[/u]

Personally like one of the songs inside: I've never been to me -- Charlene Duncan

Lyrics goes like this:

Hey lady, you lady

cursing at your life

you're a discontented mother

and a regimented wife

I have no doubt

you dream about the things you never do

but I wish someone had talked to me like I wanna talk to you

Oh, I've been to Georgia and California and anywhere I could run

Took the hand of a preacher man

and we made love in the sun

But I ran out of places and friendly faces

Because I had to be free

I've been to paradise but I've never been to me...

Please lady please lady

don't just walk away

Cause I have this need to tell you

why I'm all alone today

I can see so much of me

still living in your eyes

won't you share a part

of a weary heart that has lived a million lives

Oh, I've been to Nice and the isle of Greece

when I sipped champagne on a yacht

I moved like Harlo in Monte Carlo

and showed them what I've got

I've been undressed by kings

and I've seen some things that a woman ain't s'pose to see

I've been to paradise but I've never been to me...

Hey, you know what paradise is?

It's a lie

a fantasy we created about people and places

as we like them to be

but you know what truth is?

it's that little baby you're holding

and it's that man you fought with this morning

the same one you are gonna make love to tonight

that's truth that's love

sometimes I've been to crying for unborn children

that might have made me complete

but I, I took the sweet life

I never knew I'd be bitter from the sweet

I spent my life exploring

the subtle whoreing

that cost to much to be free

hey lady I've been to paradise

but I've never been to me...

I've been to paradise but I've never been to me...

Global Underground #25 Toronto - Sharam's Afterclub mix and Stacie Orrico (eponymous album). And my all-time favourite for late night contemplation - Dominic Miller.

Just thought I'd contribute after reading a lament that there are too many browsers, not enough contributors....

I'm a new but old newbie, so haven't yet found my bearings...
