Sipher 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 i think it's AV One. i only remembered it has the word 'One'. hehe i saw about 4 of them on display. hmmm...so it's not cheaper then....
Northern Oak 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2003 AV One is opening up/moving to in Adelphi, in case you can't find them at Plaza Singapura.
Mackie 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2003 Expensive I would say. KEC sold them at $199. Now that CD4000/5000/6000 are already superseded by forthcoming new models. My personal recommendation is "HOLD".
jasonhanjk 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2003 Means wait for them to drop further???
Mackie 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2003 I don't forsee further price drop now that current prices are sub 200. I'm saying we should look out for the new models. A case of note is Marantz CD17mkIII which was released at a lower-than-expected price of $1099 relative to its predecessor mkII. Current price is $930 after 2-3 months of release. I forsee the replacement of CD4000 will not be priced more than $250 in the current economic condition. Don't kick me if I am wrong.
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2003 mackie, how is the marantz line up like from high end to lower end ? I am kinda confused.. I mean they come up with.. cd17mkii KI , then cd17mkiii.. then which is better sounding? hm...
Mackie 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2003 Guy, it's easy. CD17mkII > CD17mkII KI > > next range > > CD17mkIII > CD17mkIIIKI (forthcoming). Future line-up? Perhaps CD17mkIV then CD17mkIVKI.
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2003 so cd17mkii is better than cd17mkii KI and so on and so forth? or is that the line up from the older to latest model? hm if so how do u arrange according to sound quality
Mackie 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2003 U got it in the reverse. Chronological order is older to newer. Sound quality is subjective. For instance, some feel the CD17mkiii is on par with the older CD17mkiiKI but the latter is more expensive in its days.
Rameish 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Mack is talking abut different generations as well Guy. So CD-17 (1st generation) CD-17 MkII KI (2nd generation KI Signature) It seems all manufacturers are trying their best to confuse us. So last generation's of Marantz went somthing like CDE4000, CD5000, CD6000, CD6000 OSE, CD6000 OSE LE, CD-17 MkII and so one. Why oh why didn't I buy the CD-7 (stupid stupid me).
