Xiao_Catz 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 (edited) actually u can try some entry level IEM's like E2c/um1 and its not a crime to bring a headphone on the go walking on the streets (although some ppl will stare at u more) i did bring my big sony XD300 out last time and headphone wise for your budget u can get Grado Sr60 or AKG 81 DJ both are quite good for ROCK Edited February 25, 2007 by Xiao_Catz
aaron-xp 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 You may want to post in the portable audio subforum for more response, since you are mainly looking at portable audio. I'd recommend the K81DJ, as it is closed, but it is always good to try it before buying it.

Rameish 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 Try the iGrado well within your price range. And good for rock too. Music By Design has them (they are at 2nd level Adelphi).
mrhobbit 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 open cans for out-door use isn't TOO practical. you have noise leaking in and blaring out got the K81's, for rock and metal, their bass is astounding, and at that price range, i believe almost totally unbeatable!i know, cause i had totally the same criteria as you, and did tons of research for those cans. do try out the beyer 131 galatica as well, they are as good as the K81's and do not have the killer grip and if you are considering IEMs, do go try out the DTX50
Xiao_Catz 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2007 if u consider IEM might as well u go for E2C or u add $9 more to either get an um1 or sf3 both cope quite well when playing *helena* cans wise 81DJ's grip and its bass can give u a real headache after use or u can try ATH ES7 which is somewhere around your budget also*correct me if i am wrong* and its one of the chiorest cans around
