loop_ 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2008 you'll probably be the only one in sg with the 2 top diy amps in the market. that should be inspiration enough! waiting for you review of both amps. hehe
heady 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2008 hey guys any pics on your bijous? inspire me abit...have been working like mad. only finished populating the boards and i dont have time to even order the transformer. gene83, you disgust me..... Where you find the time? I am still trying to cope with work. I am hoping in the next couple of weeks to built both the Bijou and CK2III. Hope!!
gene83 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2008 (edited) hahaha every night 1-1.5hrs x 3 = completed boards. sadly i do not have the transformer so its pretty hard for me to finish it completely. which means heady you'll get to hear it before me! sad to say i have not cased my b22 yet LOL!!! impression...i actually posted them loop! IIRC it was in your thread! Edited March 18, 2008 by gene83
loop_ 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2008 no la i meant review/comparison of both amps. I also need some encouragement to take out my soldering iron.
gene83 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2008 haha you still overseas? the bijou is surprisingly simple to build its just that the voltages are high and theres a hell lot of wiring to do. especially the star ground.
heady 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2008 sad to say i have not cased my b22 yet LOL!!! I have said it before and I will say it again, I really hate casing my builds. They may sound beautiful but they sure look like c**p. Only the Mini3 due to the group buy panels look anywhere decent. So I can understand your naked B22. If and a very big if, I built my Bijou before you do, I will gladly have a meet with you so you can have a listen. Regards
loop_ 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2008 yea still overseas will prob only do any diy work mid-late august. But need to plan in advance... totally agree casework is always the b*tch, but there is some satisfaction in having something cased up nicely.
gene83 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2008 whoo thats good hahaha I did some wiring today. so i actually only left wiring the transformer :/
Cloud 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 hmm for the transformer. is it possible to use 2 seperate transformers? ie. 1 for the 260V and 1 for 6.3V?
gene83 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 yes you can it might actually be better if you use a toroidal for the 260 and a plate traffo for the heater.
heady 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 yes you can it might actually be better if you use a toroidal for the 260 and a plate traffo for the heater. Hi gene83, can explain your comment? Interested to know why. Thanks.
gene83 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 mainly the noise that it might get if it comes from the same source. the 6.3v might interfere with the 260v and vice versa. but with good grounding (as in the case with bijou, star grounding) the problem might or might not exist. btw update on my side... im getting my colleague's father's friend to custom me a toroidal and a heater! whoohoo!! its finally coming together! hows the amp coming along heady? heady 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 hows the amp coming along heady? no progress. Work has been killing me. Sad. I have decided to finish my other sets of Mini3 first and sell them. My friends waited so long for me, they decide to buy other amps....
ganggang 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2008 I am jumping in here since you are talking about tube amp... Have you guys ordered the PCB/Kits from Glassware? I am planning to buy something, maybe we can do a bulk purchase? Also, I am planning on buying some chassis from vt4 in hkg, make sense to order together?
