mouz 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2009 I prefer to get everything at 1 shot...don't mind.. No problem. Just finished the SOICs, best I did was the soic8 on the mini3. Tot it was gonna be a killer but it was quite painless, phew! . Here's another way of doing it, I didn't try but it seems like fun Toaster oven soldering

mouz 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2009 Bro,...thought you will get the oven to toast it!! Yah, but lazy to get solder paste from SLT . Another risk i had to deal wif is I'm afraid if the IC starts sliding all over, I'm gonna get screwed as I have only one of each part....
heady 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2009 Using solder paste also mean getting a solder paste mask. Don't forget that.
mouz 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2009 Wah good thing I didn't try, I just found out that solder mask is used for preventing bridges and I had no idea that had to be used... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solder_mask
mouz 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2009 Bad news, mouser feedback they ran out of transfomer (580-DA101C), backordered til 19 March. You can still get the rest of the parts first but we will have to foot a separate shipping fee just for that one part.
