  1. I think a better method would be to use sawdust or powdered clay to soak up the chemical then dispose of it in a plastic bag. I think there used to be another etching agent.. Some kind of acid but it requires a license to purchase now.
  2. The RTX is B&D's answer to Minicraft's MX-1 and Dremel's rotary tools. All these will actually be able to use each others' tool bits.
  3. If you can design the circuit to accomodate the opamp, the LM6171/ 6172 sounds very good while having fairly low quiesent current. Unfortunately, you may need to up the voltage to get decent voltage swing at high volumes for high-impedance headphones (250ohms up).
  4. My advice to you is to scrap the "RA-1 Clone", "4556" and "Solen 5uF" tags from the board layout and make some modifications to the circuit. What you're currently doing is not legal and forum rules would not allow such a post. Also, I do not think the local Grado Distributor would not like this.

Ok. I think the output circuit of the 963 is affecting the XP150's. Probably trying to bring the signal to ground because there is no input so the circuit tries to maintain the output and input at the same level (ground).
  6. Fuwen: That's one of the albums you played when we were over at your place the other time right? Very nice album. I was trying to figure out which it was to no avail. LOL..
  7. You can just buy the Black & Decker RTX. It's available at major hardware stores.
  8. I do have a 1m pair of interconnects to sell at $32. PM me if you're interested. Cable: Canare L-4E6S. Quad-conductor with shield. Configuration: 2 conductors each for signal and return. Shield connected to ground on one end only. Termination: Soldered with Cardas Quad-eutectic silver solder. Connectors: Neutrik RCA's (Black) with gold-plated contacts. The cable: The RCA plugs: Neutrik's proprietry cable clamping strain-relief:
  9. Yea. I thought of getting the Graphics Blaster with the 3DLabs VPU. But on second thoughts, the price is the same as the online price. Also, I'd rather just pay the extra $7 for delivery than to spend $$$ and precious time on travelling. Not much difference in costs anyway. To and fro would cost $4.50. Extra $2.50 gets me delivery... Hehe..

Ground-loop problem means the Mains-earth is tied to the signal ground on one of your components. In this case, it's like that the 963SA. This can cause problems. What you need to do is to use a cheater plug which disconnects the mains-earth pin from the 963SA's powercord and give it a try. It should help.

Is your 963SA mains earthed? ie. uses a 3-pin plug. If so, you may have a ground loop problem. You can try using a cheater plug to lift the mains earth off the 963SA.
  12. The Ten Tenors - Larger than Life Very good album. Last 2 copies in Singapore left in Sembwang Music (Century Square) and Music Junction (Jurong Point). Don't bother trying the other outlets or HMV or Tower Records. No one else has it. Had a hard time sourcing out the copy for av98m. Heh.. Sum41 - Chuck Greenday - American Idiot
  13. Managed the colour chart on the first try with ease. Hint: If you can read reasonably fast, there's no issue. Most people should be able to read at 200 wpm. I manage an average of 400+ to 600 wpm depending on what I'm reading.
  14. From what I can see in the picture. The BUF634 is outside of the feedback loop.
  15. You paid $11.50 for the 1/4" locking jack? Kidding me yea? Even the version with gold plated contacts doesn't even come close in price.
  16. But they should perform better since the opamp doesn't have to maintain the voltage level as well as drive a heavy load at the same time.
  17. I feel that this is a common misconception. I've personally used and have seen others use ordinary headphone amplifiers to drive the AKG K-1000 to reasonably loud volumes. In fact, I've had them driven off a low-voltage, battery powered, amplifier I've built before. I've no reason to doubt that non-portable headphone amplifiers can drive the K-1000's to loud enough volumes unless you're half-deaf or your surroundings are far too noisy. Either case, you've more to worry about than matching the cans to the amp.
  18. I already have done so in the Mad mod World issue featuring the BBamp Rev. 3. Point to point soldering with groundplane. I believe it's one of a kind currently.
  19. I'm wondering what you meant by thin. It's a relative term. I've used 30awg wire in amps before and I don't feel it's too thin. It's just right if you handle the wires properly.
  20. That would depend on the other guys. I need mine for more projects. As it is, my production run has halted due to extremely limited quality silver wire left. I won't be taking the silver solder. Heh... Still have an entire 1/2Kg of the Kester 36/62/2Ag not used anymore. I use Cardas Quad-eutectic & WBT silver solder, the other 2 guys in the order are not diyers and one of them already has Siltech Silver solder.
  21. Nice handiwork on the tracks but you could do better with the soldering. Too many solder blobs there.
  22. The order's actually raised to 400ft. A few other guys joined in my initial order of a 100 feet of the wire.
  23. Just pull the pad. It will pop out. Keep the flat piece of foam. Replacement velor pads are about $30 a pair IIRC.
  24. Just a matter of converting to grayscale in Photoshop. I kinda miss the sepia effect in Paintshop Pro though.
