  1. Right... Then it wouldn't be a clone.. More of a mutant, yes? Any takers for the BB? lol....
  2. Coldplay - Clocks EP Audioslave - Audioslave The Cranberries - Stars Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Californication
  3. Cans: Beyer Dynamic DT931 Amp: Codenamed BB amp MK I. Not fully equiped yet. Source: Pioneer CLD2750 (Modded w/ Cerafines, Silmics, Muse, Solens & Reliable Multicaps) Interconnects: Homebrewed cables.
  4. I just got their Clocks EP (japanese press) and also have their God put a smile upon your face EP. Both are identical except the first track being the single & the latter being a European press. hehe... Wanted to get their older EP's but their out of production and HMV's suppliers do not have stock anymore.
  5. I'd take this @ your price. Lemme know how I can deal..
  6. It's codename was the BB amp. Due to the initials of a few parts like the Black Beauty pot. & the Burr Brown opamps. Of course, it's my amp... So it can also be called Big Ben's amp. hehehe... But the amp's gotta have a proper name yah.. I was thinking of HPA-22. =)
  7. No name yet... Hehehe... Only a codename for prototyping purposes. hehehe....
  8. Yeah... Should be finished by the meet.. Doing the paintwork right now.. Gonna need a few parts to complete the last 5% of tweaking. *grinz* But the amp's functional. Lets just say the end-result is an amp where the opamps get hot enough to require heatsinks. =)
  9. I already built an almost complete custom designed opamp based amp. Hehe.. Except that I've only had the intention for 3 such amps (including mine) to ever be built. So too bad guys....
  10. My attendance to be confirmed.. Depends on whether I've anything on... Never know when my unit might pull some stupid stunt off...
  11. The term to use for such headphones where the pads go around the ears is "Circumaural". Your HD490's are "Supra-aural" headphones where the pads press directly onto the ear. Closed cans are those where the back of the headphones are sealed and without holes.
  12. Hehe... Sorry I didn't see it last night.. Hehee.. Happy belated hatch day anyway.. *grinz*
  13. To the extent of my knowledge, only Music by Design sells Grado headphones in Sg. They're the local distributor and any other shop that might happen to sell the cans are likely to be selling parallel imports. Try the SR225's if you want a pair. Good for it's price. Unlike the RS-1's which are nice cans but just way too pricey.
  14. Maybe about 20+ to 30. I'm not too sure because I never exactly counted... Hehehe.... But now that my amp is up less the case, I'm slowly growing the collection for listening in the near future. Already blew nearly $200+ this month.. And awaiting another 2 CD's + 1 LP.. Gotta set aside yet another $120+ when they arrive (If they do).
  15. I need someone to collate the orders and take over. I don't have enough time since I'm in camp. No nights off until my course is over.... If anyone's interested, I can pass my friend's contact to ya & you can collaborate from there..
  16. Just bought $100 worth of CD's (after 20% discount on almost all of them) at HMV yesterday. Hehe... Not to include the albums I bought in the past 2 weeks. Last Fortnight Buena Vista Social Club (From Gramophone) Enimem - 8 mile OST (From Gramophone) Sum41 - Half Hour of Power (From Gramophone) Last Week Coldplay - God Put a Smile Upon Your Face EP Bought Yesterday The Best of Simon & Garfunkel Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory Green Day - International Superhits White Stripes - White Blood Cells The Corrs - Unplugged Blur - Don't Bomb When Your the Bomb (Very limited edition White Label Vinyl; Got HMV to source) Coldplay - Brothers & Sisters EP (Ordered from HMV; Waiting for it to arrive) Coldplay - Clocks EP (Japanese Press; Ordered from HMV; Waiting for it to arrive)
  17. I assume your from HWZ-EDMW. Hrmmm.... As a matter of fact, your HD497's would suffice for your use. =) You could try getting a small portable headphones amplifier for use though.
  18. Probably borrowed from the production crew. The HP1000's were originally intended for Studio use.. =)

Depends on the build of the amp and also the requirements. The TKD is better sealed than the Black beauty. Hence, use the former if you enjoy fluxing the pin excessively while soldering. ie. Bad soldering skills. The TKD is also a lot smaller than the Black. So space constraints in the amp can affect your choice of the pot. I'd take the Black over the TKD if the amp's enclosure allows though. It's tracking at very low volumes (slightly lower than my listening volumes) is still better than the small TKD. But this is not an issue with almost all SGH members.
  20. For those interested.. http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/showthread....&threadid=44997
  21. I can read the original post as per normal but I seem to have a problem with yours. There's must be an essence somewhere which resulted in a difference. Hmmmm....... It's the language used.. The more often you read & use the words, the easier it is for you to "recognise" the words. Such an ability is a proofreader's bane, I guess.... Hehehee
  22. timo: Which camp are you in? As for your phones, I might be able to change the cord. =)
  23. The colour can vary... You guys can choose whichever colour suits you as long as the bottle is a 0.6L Traveller's Classic. However, the logo must be the same colour on all bottles!
  24. You can get MAT02 & MAT03 monolithtic dual-fets from Analog Devices Sampling program as replacements for the 2SK389 & 2SJ109 fets.
  25. There is another method though. Use the LM334's adjustable-constant current diodes with zener diodes to set the voltage drop. This allows you to easily adjust the current drawn to be identical on both channels to 1mA to 2 mA whereas the zeners offer very close matching for voltage drop straight from the package.
