  1. Wow, 60cds in a month is FAST! Especially for students like us! The thing is, have you listened to all the cds? I found that later on, I listen to a portion of the cds, not all. Some CDs gets played very often. I think its how much time you spend listening with your equipment more so than the size of your cd collection.
  2. ablaze, hahahah that about answers my question man...
  3. Have you tried rock with the Stax??? Wanna know how bad it sounds
  4. Sipher, In the end, the music matters more than the sound and the implementation is more important than the theories. What i suggest is to pick the cd player you enjoy the most with all sorts of different music you listen to. Since you probably can lug your cans and amp around... auditioning cd players in a 'familiar environment'... You'd get a very good idea of what to expect from whichever cd player you are buying.
  5. One thing thou, sometimes when the site is down but i can still ping the server and it responds quite quickly.
  6. n@z, Heh, twas 7:19 when i answered, groggy and all Sipher There are soundcards that upsamples to 24/192 but chances are a cd playera of the same price as the card sounds better Mackie, My cd player uses the TDA1541A and its only a 16bit DA but the amount of detail and ambient noise found in recordings and heard thru this player is ENOUGH. Too much details sometimes kills musicality...
  7. Aaaaaaaaaargh, both Xtremeplace & Echoloft are hosted in Singapore and i always have a very HARD time accessing both sites. SGheadphones is so much faster when its up... But then again I'm speaking for perhaps less than 10 australians so I guess you can ignore me
  8. well there's an up side... Alot of the serial killers are pretty bright people... i'm safely dumb
  9. Crimping then soldering THEN screw on.
  10. I would prefer not to. I think its better to post your experience in a thread if you had dealt with the seller before. But of course the fact that someone can create additional accounts to blackmouth or praise himself is possible. So far echoloft and xtremeplace is doing fine right?
  11. nORTHERN oAK, Cant do that with the DNM interconnects lah, all the plastic will melt n@z, Looks like glue to me, should be alright.
  12. Antess, Thanks for the link! Ramiesh. Heh that'll be nice but I'm not rushing for it... Right now enjoying the Aego 2s... nice sub/sats
  13. I'm glad you enjoy it. Perhaps you'd sell it back to me when a SACD/DVD-A supported version comes out?
  14. N@Z, Silicon? Its water based! Will introduce oxygen to the metals! Issit white or whitish transperant?
  15. Rameish, Most laid back? I find them pretty exciting! Damn and i bought these particular models partly cos headphone.com says they are rocker's cans! Damn marketing blurb... Which cans do you think rocks best? Would you know how good are the cables exactly? Maybe after modding i'll terminate the old cables into interconnects and sell to hard core grado fanatics eh?
  16. Guyferd, Some people take much longer time and money to get to what you've learnt. Example, ME! I enjoy all kinds of music so much more on my grado cans than my previous $$$ stereo setup... Now they tell me Sonus Faber is the speaker equivalent of Grados... and i hate the brand... damn...
  17. Grados are very well suited for pop, rock and anything with infectious and overtly obvious bass beats. The sonys wouldn't sound as good plugged into un-amped portable sources.
  18. Mackie, Thats what the Behringer DSP 8024 can do! Make a neutral pair of headphones/speakers sound better when equalized for each music genre or even cd if you have the time to!
  19. Thanks antess, How come no one in that mod page changed their wires? I've ordering a length of very good copper wires so am thinking of waysto use em. After making 2 pairs of interconnects, speaker cables, rewiring of speakers, cdplayer and power cord i still got alot left For my particular pair of cans (sr225) has good voicecoil wires but not the wiring so i'm thinking of changing it. Maybe plug out the sr225 plastic badge as well, that definitely affects the sound... Mine would probably end up with a twisted pair of transperant copper wires sticking out of the cans and then maybe braided together before terminated with a large stereo plug. Even if the sound don't improve much, its a pretty mod! For what's its worth it'll look pretty Sad thing is even if they sound good u guys won't be able to hear em
  20. I know only the RS series uses better cables. And as you can see thru the grill and the soldered on wires, I wonder if its easy to pick apart the plastic case so we can swap cables... As Grado cans are hand made im pretty sure they could be taken apart without damaging the plastic case... What do you guys think? Anyone brave enough to open up their cans to give it a go? I tried opening mine but its held on pretty tight.
  21. Did i say i wuz gonna wash em? I didn't anyway, Brisbane isn't hot enough for me to sweat whilst wearing em
  22. Rameish, No, i meant the deoxidising effect of progold is 20% that of deoxit. The 5% & 100% refers to the purity of the progold forumla.
  23. Oak, try this http://www.geocities.com/deepfriedsotongball/apr2000 Mackie, Did you modify the X-Cans' led yourself? Looks as awesome as my old one
  24. Did someone say blue led? http://www.geocities.com/deepfriedsotongba...000/XCans01.JPG http://www.geocities.com/deepfriedsotongba...000/XCans02.JPG My first mod way back in march 2000... check out the rest of the pics, those dates give you a good idea how long ago it was...
