    Slow or fast?

Wouldn't that be called bass extension?

    Slow or fast?

Ahh, I've experience this phenomenon not so long ago. There is a CD (Collective Soul's 1st album) I used to listen to all the time on my main speaker set up. Then one day I dug it out & played on my MG Head setup... there it was, the speed was slow. Hard to describe, so I listened with the META. It sounded more like I was used to. Could it be the EMP & MG Head's speed is slower?
  3. Hehehe... the Grado dish washing sponge mod. I can see it now hundreds of head-fiers with rectangular yellow & green 3M sponges on their precious cans. A new trend is born. Seriously I tried tilting my RS-1's drivers with my hands last night trying to replicate it. Too much & you lose detail & imaging for the sake of soundstage.
  4. I was thinking of those shoon mook, mpingo 'devices' as well for headphone application. A high end dealer here swears by these things. Frankly I can't tell a difference.

    I'm done

Done?! Yeah right! There's always a new soundcard coming round the corner ablaze. Even if you think you're done. Your journey has not ended yet & you know it... it never is.
  6. Nahh, doesn't work! That is your best avatar yet!
  7. I tried shifting the headphones forward although it does shift the sound outside of the head, it sounds duller and not as pleasant. Judging by the eggos I think I might actually like those headphones with the angled drivers.
  8. I actually prefer headstage as I like the 'feel' of being in the center of the music. In some cases I feel like being with the musicians or performers. Now that you've mentioned it, how do you hear the singer/vocalist in headstage? I seem to hear them facing the same direction as I am rather than performing in front of me like in soundstage.
  9. Well, it's only inevitable but I'm gonna have to recommend the eggos (Sony MDR-D66SL). These work REALLY great straight out of my Apple Powerbook & Sony SRF-40W Portable radio headphone out.
  10. Yeah, you can never stop can't you? It's like a drug. Anyway, if there's a bargain to be had I'm in. Which reminds me... oh rameish there's an outstanding matter concerning headphones I did a brief impression in one of the threads. Maybe I'll post a dedicated one for the eggos using my main system, PCDP & Portable radio undamped. Other users can pitch in their thoughts as well.
  11. Stereophile has an extensive list of definitions. This link was posted here before: http://www.stereophile.com/showarchives.cgi?50:1 Although, headstage doesn't seem to be described there.
  12. It's all down to price & which design you like now since audition is out of the question, if they are anything like the sound of the KSC-35 it should sound quite good. OT: blackadder, cool avatar!
  13. I recall at MBD, Adelphi I saw a CEC DAC with a headphone out & built in digital volume control too.
  14. I dont find any Koss headphone price there..... Fook Lai My mistake. Maybe you can put it right when you audition them.
  15. Sale is completed. Other remaining items withdrawn & will go to a good home.
  16. Please check this sticky thread found on the main forum for prices of headphones in Singapore: http://www.cryophilia.com/sgheadphones/ind...act=ST&f=2&t=60
  17. Sounds like the PX series, 100, 200 & 250 (Noise cancelling) the prices should be as indicated in the sticky on the main forum as SG$99 for the 200 & SG$245 for the 250.
  18. The recent hoo haa about the eggos are to be considered. These to me look very cool. Headphone origami when folded up looks so cute. However these won't fit into any pocket. Ablaze got me these for a mere +$93 (gst included). After running them in for about 20 hours the sound transfromed significantly. It was no longer harsh & bright. Bass is also improved. Contrary to other people's comments, I find the bass quite ample goes down low & is quite tight. This is my initial assessment using my portable (amped) system. Unamped from my powerbook they are much better than the RS-1! But that is an unfair comparison. For such a small pair of headphones they sound bigger, a bit like the KSC35's but remember this is a near closed headphones (there are holes located where the chrome discs are). The difference is that the 'eggs' sound quite airy. Not as much as the Senn HD600 but impressive none the less. Surprisingly too, the enclosures though small fit perfectly over my ears. I think the way the drivers are angled inside the enclosures allow the ear loobes to fit in nicely. I would like to have more time listening to them as so far actual listening time is only 2 hours. The only criticism I have (a minor one at that) the mids is slightly recessed at the moment. I'm hoping that will improve with more burn in time and I get more accustom to the sound. I want to see how much detail it can produce compared to the etys which I use in this system. Although I have not heard the other headphones mentioned here. I certainly think these will give a serious run for the money especially if the eggos end up being cheaper. The Senn MX500 is not in the same league.
  19. I believe he already posted the actual contents of his letter in Head-Fi. It took a while for them to print it. I would be interested to find out what Stereophile's reply is. Was there anything mentioned?
  20. Let me know when there's a special price on the PreHead
  21. Get some new cans & resell when you come back!
  22. It would seem to me that your system is relatively new, unless they were bought used. If you still enjoy the present system then it would be good to bring them back with you. You also mentioned you like the Pathos Twin Towers so why not just keep them. On the other hand it might be a good opportunity to upgrade by selling the amp & speakers, save yourself the shipping & getting something newer. Personally I would bring them back.
  23. I like it, straight forward & to the point. No flashy gimmicks to detract from the real issue. All it needs is a watermark background picture to break the plain white background.
