  1. heh you all can give me your emails and i'll send you my avatar.
  2. sure. it may take a little longer than you might expect though, got 'A' levels this year.. damn xiong liao..
  3. right now, a huge collection of mp3, wav & flac files. and a store of cash that's -slowly- but surely growing. that's why i asked you all for your opinions; want to begin with the end in mind. & am building my meta42 also as soon as the board arrives.
  4. and we'll be the pioneers of this soon-to-be great forum. imagine.
  5. hrmm.. charismatic, you have my interest. what are the other options? you see as of now i'm slowly saving.. slowly but steadily.
  6. haha so which one is the more expensive abalone?
  7. oh, forgot to mention, you can email sharon@sinamex.com to 'reserve' one copy. something like a waiting list. they will notify you when they have stocks of the revo.
  8. pipee, my email is the_adhoc@yahoo.com.sg ( ) if you're really serious about buying one then email me and we'll discuss. whatever it is, you must have the cash ready and be prepared to fork it over. no last minute backout scenarios. just want to be clear here abt that all.
  9. i find them more convenient. as in you'll NEVER have pamily members or neighbours complain about the too-loud volumes. of course though there is the danger that you might NOT hear impt things like the phone ringing or wife shouting for you, but that's only if you listen at a dangrous volume or have closed headphones or an in-canal type. and of course headphones are great if you love looking out for details in the music, like the singer flipping the page or a pencil dropping or the drummer coughing softly in the background. no speaker can let you see that much detail i think. at least not for the same price you pay for a headphones setup.
  10. right now they are out of stock. price is confirm $195 though.
  11. you forgot, 'no, beacuse i think headphones are better than speakers in general.'
  12. a good friend of mine is working in philips.. employee discount..
  13. how much would i expect them to cost? sorry ah for all these questions.. want to get ready first.. any recommendations for sacds/dvdas?
  14. thanks all for your input and feedback. i think i willgo the 963sa route. btw, anyone know where to get dvda's and sacds in singapore?
  15. hai N@Z, same here.. wasnt aware of sgheadphones the 1st meet, cannot make it to the 2nd meet.. hai..
  16. N@Z, all computer systems need some 'downtime' every month or so to clean out dust, clear the windows registry, defragment the harddrive, search for virus, etc etc.. also every year or so they will need to have the os reinstalled to maintain optimum performance which would mean a long and lengthy backup of all music files. otherwise they will end up being as well maintained as school computers . (which btw for those not still in school, means having a p4 1.5ghz run as fast as a 300mhz) a small but slightly irritating thing would be the 1 min or so i takes for a computer to start up - like sometimes you have that song in your head and you want to listen to it quickly.. in contrast the philips will start immediately. no 'windows loading' time.. also the philips wont need 'maintainence'. and forgive my blasphemy about the equaliser function.. i am still not totally initiated.. my dt880 comes in a week or so only..
  17. N@Z, was that directed at me?
  18. ablaze, wah 'core bunch' members.. so nice sounding.. like ah long san gang like that..
  19. sipher, still -quite- limited compared to say, ablaze.. heh
  20. crap, can't make it on the 21st.. suddenly realised that i have some whole-day church thing on.. ah well. you all enjoy yourselves 2x as much in place of me..
  21. hey all, i am a student who's building his own dream audio system. so.. kena limited budget. so far i'm considering 2 options: A. self assemble full computer system with a revo 7.1 - dvdrom, 120gb hdd, 256ram, 1ghz proc, revo 7.1., integrated graphics & lan; estimated cost ~ $950 total. pros: 1. useful for other things besides music 2. can play songs without loading/unloading cds (after ripping with flac) 3. software equaliser function 4. downloading station cons: 1. expensive 2. not convenient 3. inferior (?) sound quality 4. maintainence B. philips dvd/cd/sacd player $782 pros: 1. MUCH CHEAPER 2. better sound quality (?) 3. stability; dependability 4. more discreet (no need for bulky monitor) cons: 1. plays ONLY cds, dvds and SACDs 2. no equaliser function 3. not really future proof So how ppl? any suggestions? which one would you choose?
  22. lengcm, then maybe we could 'lose' it in transit back to them.. hehehehehehe and Guyferd, gosh man, all this talk abt my coming cans has got me all excited liao.. hehehehehhe really cant wait for it. i remember so long ago when i first tried it in hung bros i told myself, yes, i want this..
  23. er super newbie question, but where can you find dvd-a, hdcd, sacds in singapore? can any computer hardware burn sacds? or more importantly, playback sacds?
