yea bass punching amp indeed. it's hard for me having to cope w/o it for the sake of convenience. do miss the oomph every now and then.

i read it somewhere that it's mentioned to be the budget grados, but after trying it i think it's quite an exaggeration. in fact it just doesn't sound right. bassless, harsh & distant vocals, harsh & fake treble. pardon me if these ain't the correct technical words to use. good news is that these aspects are widely said to improve after burn in. will be looking forward.

the cresyn is not known for isolation precisely because it doesn't go in deep enough due to the ball design. the sizzling could be due to the cresyn being more sensitive. but if during playback it's still noticeable, then perhaps there's a problem. you can make earphones sound better by adding an amp into your rig, but at the expense of portability. a better option could be to change the earphones altogether to a higher grade pair. to keep in good condition, it's best to store them in hard cases to prevent pressing, tugging, and folding of the cable.

no they aren't the only ones. but price wise and ease of auditioning wise, these 2 are the ones.

after looking through the past threads, it is apparent that the marantz cd5001 is arguably the most favourable one to go for in terms of a budget beginner dedicated cd player. as the threads may be outdated, may i know of any other commendable model in this range? am still considering, and it won't be tomorrow that i'll decide on whether and which to get. but the itch never dies... even if i end up getting one, i guess i'll be content w/o a home amp in the near future. perhaps i may just add in my pa2v2. cans will be the lovely ms1. thanks for any feedback.

sf3 was my pick over um1 and e2c. no doubt um1 looks nice, but to me it sounds kinda dull with relatively less (recessed, if i'm not wrong) bass and treble, resulting in the mids standing on its own and sounding hollow. e2c's bass is on the other hand too overpowering. reminds me of my previous ep-630. hence i got the sf3, which sounds just nice, balanced to me. more differentiation among the different frequencies. just my subjective view, no offence.

what i feel is that you should go for what you enjoy listening more, this is the most important. don't base your decision on warranty. phones should be able to last when there is common sense in taking care of them. for example, keeping them with cable nicely wound up in a designated shock absorbent pouch before throwing into your bag.

firstly, i'm too noob to recommend. secondly, personal preference is subjective. maybe when there's a chance i can lend you try it out.

i was lucky to do an exchange with someone here, my ldm+ for his pa2v2, with a bit of top-up by me. with ms-1 and ep-630, i couldn't make out significant differences unamped/ldm+ amped. maybe my ears too noob or the little dot not burnt in yet (i hadn't done my 1st charging). anyway, through reviews, ldm+ is reknowned for enhanced details. now with the pa2v2, there is more low-freq weight in the ms-1 and this really balances the brightness sweetly. yet to do a direct amp/unamped comparison with iem. btw if iirc pa2 stands for pocket amp 2 not portable amp 2.

looking to improve comfort level of my ms-1. anyone keeping stocks of these pads and could spare a set? jaben and se both don't have. even the last resort, hung brothers, also out of stock. or any other compatible and more comfortable pads for these phones?

same here same here! i've never appreciated treble as much as now when i have my alessandro. a good balance of bass & treble makes great audio.

ya but apparently they're busy so i thought we can get the ball rolling again while this thread begins to fizzle out. i included all the slogans so as to give everyone's suggestion a fair chance. if any of these slogans seem unfavourable on the shirt, it'd be cast out sooner or later by the actions of the voters (of not voting for it).
