I'm on frozen throne/lordareon.. U might catch me from 10pm-4am singapore time. Whats your login?
  3. I got the wind from sinamex about the new revo stock too, and went down to get one yesterday :-) Blues, they have the new USB Audiophile 2496 in stock though.
  4. I have some newbie Power Supply related questions.. Is it reasonable to say that batteries (with sufficient current) are actually a higher quality power source compared to most AC to DC power adaptors? So, how about using rechargable NiMH batteries instead of lead acid batteries? I don't think those big car batteries are wife friendly, and i suspect it's smelly when recharging....
  5. A cool anime site/forum to check out: http://www.animescores.com/ http://www.animescores.com/forum/ It's cool, cuz I host it..
  6. the equipment is probably about 5 yrs old, but still a good deal methinks
  7. A recent thread from head-fi on DIY regulated PS for META42 http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/showthread....&threadid=39666 Any takers? jasonhanjk?
  8. I've used the DT880 with headsave's mineme and ultra, They perform as well or better than the headphone jacks from my Marantz 63SE CDP and Cambridge Audio DAC1->Rotel 970 preamp
  9. Welcome Tiger! Regarding the sostenuto, I just got it for less than a week, so I wont comment on it yet. However, as a person who listen to most of my music from the PC, I find that using an external DAC makes a lot of difference to the sound quality than just using the soundcard's lineout/speakerouts. (Caveat: I have not used the m-audio revo or better soundcards, but I have owned quite a few decent ones). Same with a portable rig, you wont expect the DAC or opamps in your portable player to be top-notch, so the sostenuto-1 fits in nicely as both a portable dac and headamp. A similar but bulkier portable rig to the sostenuto-1 would be to use the ART DI/O together with your favourite portable headamp

Cheese is when someone uses an unfair strategy that doesnt require as much skill to beat you. So if someone beats you on the battelnet, you say "You f**king cheeser, you suck!" and then u log off. Bulkie, I usually play in lordaeron. If you have frozen throne, just add plebs.n.peons to your 'friends' list and chat me if you see me.. I did not choose the horde, the horde chose me

  12. Thanks all who bought the META42s. Those who are still interested can order them direct from www.headsave.com too. PS. Tee, please take care of number 2, its my favourite...
  13. Hmm.. if headamps dont matter then doesnt it imply all power amplifiers are the same, as long as they can drive your speakers to the desired levels without clipping? On the other hand, a slightly off-topic article about audiophile foolishness, a good read if you havent already seen it: Audiophile Myths EDIT: Link doesnt seem to work, please click on 'Myths' tab on the left navigation bar
  14. Sorry Tee, I sold the meta-mint yesterday to a friend.. You might want to try item 2 (if you dont need a portable) or 3 (flexible)? Yup, its the MiniMe Meta in a classy hammond case instead of the mint tin Note that it doesnt come with a walwart PS. You'll have to get a regulated 12V or 15V walwart yourself for this one.
  15. Try this local site for your NiMH battery/charger needs, great sales support and cheap. --> http://www.w3cube.com NiMHs plus battery packs make a great portable DC source!

    Coin Tweaks

Personally I would tend to think that the change in the sonic behaviour comes more from the coins blocking the airflow into the cans, (much like when we cup the outside of our headphones) rather than from absorbing vibrations/resonance. I'd be more convinced if the coins/cones makes a difference on a closed-design headphones.. As for coins on speakers/components.. *shrug* yeah I do sometimes leave my loose change on my speakers, but all I get is more distortion, in the form of wife naggings...
  18. I think whether a metamint is makes a significant difference depends on what headphones you're using. But if you decide to go ahead with the mint, i'd recommend getting the two-batteries configuration
  19. I'm interested too! PM me if you guys are mass ordering please!
  20. Just a note to add, I believe the plainview default charger runs on 120V AC only. Your normal NiMH chargers may not work well on the plainview More Info
  21. Hey, I just came back from Mackies place (thanks dude!)... he did a simple power cord change test for me (in his headphone system) and unfortunately, I could hear the difference straight away.. guess I'll have to rethink my cynicism towards $500 power cords... His resonance cones tweak on the headphones changed the sound too, although I didnt have enough time to familarise with the subtlelities.. Just for the record...
  22. Hey Guyferd, Firstly, thanks for pulling me in here.. I suspect you'll need very revealing and picky components to be able to hear any difference from switching the power cord... I always wondered, the electricity has travelled over such a huge distance from the power plant thru your house wiring etc, how would swapping the last meter of the cabling make much difference? You may get bigger differences from digging your ears or something.. On the other hand, I do think power conditioners, regulated power vs unregulated power makes a difference... Everything is IMHO, of course..
