Don't think the Um1 will provide sufficient bass for the user, but who knows, maybe she'll find enough bass with the UM1.

The CK 7 will be a really good buy. The bass is sufficient and still clear in the mids. Her hearing must be superbly good or you are going deaf.

Would agree with sgHound on the K3. The headout sounds pretty decent. The only thing that bugs me is the fingerprint marks all over it. Haven't heard the new shuffle, but the 1st gen shuffles sounds pretty decent.

You could rockbox your ipod so that it can support other lossless formats i.e. FLAC or you could rip your CDs using itunes to ALAC (Apple's version of lossless), than transfer it as per normal to your ipod.

I own a pair of HD 280s myself. Find the sound from a Xtra not bad.

Think either the Klipsch or Aego should be good and small enough. But do audition them for yourself

Actually, an amp adds flavour to the sound(depending on which amp) and it does not only do volume amplification. May I know what mp3 player you are using?

Actually I would recommend getting something with excellent isolation for jogging for the following reasons 1. You can't hear anything around you, which could be a safety hazard 2. With your feet hitting the ground harder than usual(Unless you can run like a ninja), and other body movements would be only thing you would hear through your earphones( for an example, try eating with your IEMs on)
