According to the rumors on the forums, the D50 will be will be a scaled down version of the D70, so im not really sure how it can compete with the 350D. The next major body release thats also rumored (and confirmed by a Nikon top spokesman) is the the D100 successor, (D200?) Both will be released latest by this May if the rumors are true.

I didnt know that its a parallel universe, i thought that its all happening before the movie happens.

Same here...at least not till i finish paying off the camera. My next big purchase would most likely be better lenses. (either a nice 10-20/10.5fisheye/or 18-200/70-200vr) The D70 is more camera than i need for the foreseable future. Sum nice 2nd hand lenses can be found for the S1 if yer really keen. One warning though, dslr's require alot of knowledge to produce really great pics. Do some research because its a very steep learning curve and more investment (lens(es)/flash(es)/batteries/cards/cleaning kits/bags/tripods/etc). Not trying to scare you but just things to consider.

The S1 is a fantastic camera even now.... if i didnt get my d70, i would have bought that instead. Truely a steal at that price. A good condition S1 has an asking price of about 600 from what ive read in other forums.

Beautiful shots... the colour shot of the bird is nicer but the b+w pic with the grain looks arty. Sounds like yer doin sumthin important for yer camp. My friend did a whole line of video's and pics for my battalion's anniversary.

They allow camera's in camp now? When i was posted as an rp, i would have had a heart attack if i found a camera in camp

That sounds like a nice bargain for the lens at that quality and with macro too! Wun be gettin any lenses anytime soon though for me. Have fun at the zoo.

I think it would be much rather constructive to post on how u got that price rather than simply stating that it was a waste of money. It just comes off to me, as nasty. Other people may not know of any other cheaper ways to get it and as such.. that was the cheapest option at that time. Different strokes for different folks. Just my 2cents.

The A900/A500 will improve with amping but it will still sound great direct from the source. Quite a solid choice.

Ah ok...im only using the standard built in flash so im affected by the lens hood shadow. Cool.. few people i know would willingly participate in a parade. Im surprised that u got those shots on the move N@Z. Makes it even more nicer when i think about it. Tropical, perhaps yer whitebalance is abit off? I think the lighting was giving the camera a headache. If u shoot raw u can still tweak abit or u could try changing the colorspace to IIIa (sRGB) in the camera to get more vibrant colors.

I only use the hood during the day...or else at night when i use the flash...i get hood shadow.. i spoilt quite a few nice shots when i forgot about it. Those foot long telephoto zoom lenses cost a bomb man... a nice 70-200VR f2.8 will do you nicely. If u need the extra reach, a nice teleconverter will do the trick at only a loss of half a stop. Are u using a curve as well N@Z? Sum really nice pics there man! How come yer standing in the middle of the crowd? Looks like yer in the middle of the parade! Ok...since all of you asked, i have had the D70 for sum time already. Early Feb if i recall correctly, just before CNY. I bought it from courts and im paying for it through installments so i think i dun qualify for the $88 promo. My bundle came with a tripod and a 1gb card though and i get to waive the last payment if i dun miss any payments so all in all, i think it was quite a good deal. My contribution for the day, david chin's D70 links quite a lot of info to digest from there.

Mackie, can you do a quick listen to the amp with the DT-150's? What is the synergy of the amp and the cans?

Oh yes... here is a question i would pose to everyone here. What motivates you to take pictures besides the occasional snap? For me, its capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments. Im not really into posed photography so photoshoots arent really my thing. I guess i could say im into street photography with a little bit into portraiture and maybe a little journalistic as well? [edit] I was given the chance to take pictures of gigs and events for a small website and forum so you could say that im comissioned to take pictures so it challenges me to learn to take better pictures and make it seem very exciting. I would say that my pictures are still very plain and i get to do 2 things i like, listen to music and take pictures. Only thing is that i wear earplugs to protect my ears since getting sum shots require me to be next to the giant speakers.

I think that would be best as well since this thread is turning out to be a D70 thread. Would love to see more stuff from other people and dont want to scare them off!

What white balance do you guys usually set it to? Im experimenting with +3 on Auto WB and getting good results and my exposure is +0.3
