  1. Nofing, Please read classifieds rules.
  2. We are always open to suggestions loop. Thanks for your feedback.
  3. Loop, Come up with a better way to prevent people from joining for the sole pupose of selling somthing and I'll implement it. This measure that we are taking is in fact good for the headphone community, it's painfull yes but reasonable. Please do remember some forums even have a auto mod preview for x no. of posts for all new members.
  4. warsurferX, Provide all the detials and I'll try and guide you along.
  5. read the classifieds rules - no auctions! Asking someone to start to bid constitutes an auction. Thread closed. Please repost if you want to as a WTS ad.
  6. Topic moved to PC Audio.
  7. I think you should audition it for a duration longer than it takes for a guy to take a leak :-) Although I have not listened to this particular model I would say that generally noise cancelling headphones are not as good as IEM plus look at the size of da thing. Reminds me of my Ultrasone HF-650 LOL or a Beyer DT-250.
  8. Yes I would like to know too. A buddy of mine has ordered the blue dragon and when he brings it over I'll give you guys a heads-up. But that may take months LOL.
  9. We all listen to music for therapeutic reasons :-) 1) Dont look at specifications to buy any gear. 2) Audition using familiar music. 3) Trust your ears over other people's opinion. 4) Remember that it's a system you're listening to and not just a particular component.
  10. Mod edit: Your signature together with this comment is really quite sexist! Rameish Mod edit: Huang Yong, Chalking up posts with more sexist comments. The poster never asked for pretty female bloggers or pretty girls. You have been warned many a time before. Your last warning was when you said this: Previous to this you violated the op-amp seller rules that specifically prohibited people who got free samples from selling such op-amps. You claimed you were ignorant of the rules and you didnt have any receipts. Too many a time huang young I have let you off because I have met you in person and that you are somwhat a long standing member of this forum. And each time you apologised and said you'll be more carefull. I have told you I will keep an eye on you. But you seem to ignore it. Taking all that into consideration I have decided to ban you.
  11. Which dock are you looking at? Apple's? If so then it's not very portable. For portable use get a dock with the cable already attached if possible. That way you reduce one connection to your amp. The apple dock is better suited for home use you'll still need a cable (either mini to mini or mini to RCA - depending on your needs). Also, I'm leaving this topic in the home forum because I suspect that you are talking about using your iPod at home and connecting it to an amplifier.
  12. MARCPKH, I suggest to go to Grado's local agent - Music BY Design at 2nd Level Adelphi. They are friendly chaps, allow a take your time approach to auditions, and if you dont buy they dont sulk. LOL BTW they tend to leave you alone during auditions - it's not they dont care but rather giving you time to listen and come to your own conclusions. Bring your own CDs. BTW the new i grados are in try them.
  13. You pay a premium for IEMs (ie sound for pound it isnt that great a value) but hey have you ever tried using a Senn HD-600 or Grado SR-80 on a plane? Okay so you need some isolation and say IEM and noise cancelling headphones are not your cup of whiskey. The althenative is closed/sealed headphones like the Beyer DT-250 or Sony 7056. But I think you'll find them less satisfactory then IEMs for plane/train/bus journeys. And for heavens sake keep the seat belt on. So you dont have to listen to the announcements about turbulance etc. If somthing is going to go really wrong the seat belt aint going to help. Frequent Flyer Programmes should really look into offering IEM as part of their rewards scheme. LOL
  14. IEM is the way to go. Forget about noise cancelling if you want quality. Plus if and when you do upgrade there's a ready market for IEMs. Put it another way IEM are for music lovers and audiophiles Noise Cancelling headphones are for people who listen to background music Take what I say with a pinch of salt ya ;-)

Hey loop I love the laphroaig too. Nice peaty taste. Dont quite like the gold label - sorry.
  16. I'll ignore this one as it's done with good intention. Grado SR-60 retails in Singapore for S$120 brand new. So maybe Noback can indeed get a used one for S$80/90
  17. Try headroom for bags. Here's the link: http://www.headphone.com/products/system-bags/
  18. Try the iGrado well within your price range. And good for rock too. Music By Design has them (they are at 2nd level Adelphi).
  19. Absolute0, I think I'll need to write a much better piece first. But I'm feeling a bit lazy.
  20. Singapura, That's the Coada Aria you have there right? Well if it's anything like the other Corda's that I have heard (HA-1 MkI, HA-2 and Prehead) then you will be well served with either one of the following (depending on taste/genre of music etc): Beyer DT-931 (Jan Meier's favourite cans although it's now discontinued), Beyer DT-990 (try and get the higher impedence version), Beyer DT-150 (a bit dry sounding and it's a closed headphone), Senn HD-600 (lush presentation but lousy for rock IMO), Grado SR-225 (fantastic for rock not so good with classical), AKG-501 (if budget is tight and again a discontinued model but it's one of AKG's longest running model. Again it's a bit dry sounding. Let's see Sony MDR7056 (aka V6) - a bit harsh sounding but good at it's price point. One caveat if you have a big noggin the DT-990 Pro will be a tight fit. Get the non-pro version. And if you ever have the opportunity to get a Grado HP-1 (of the HP-1000 series) grab it (anything under S$1300 is a seal for this pair of cans). If you want to go up the current Grado range audition the RS-1 and the GS-1000 (they are a lot cheaper here then in the UK :-) Stereo, Thanks but if and when I decide to write a proper article on it I may make it a sticky - they way it's written now no way:-) Writing something well takes time, time that I do not have right now.
  21. Zu cable with plastic! The only Zu cable I have seen comes with machined aluminum connectors. I think you either have an Equinox cable or some other. Are you certian it a Zu cable? Silly question I know but you description of the Zu HD-600/HD-580/HD-650 cable seems odd. Here's a picture of the Zu Mobius cable from their website, as you can see the connector is aluminum. http://www.zuaudio.com/site/headphone_cables.asp
  22. Singapura, Building a system on "best buys" is what I meant. Let me clarify further, if there are 3 headphones that you are considering dont buy the one that is the cheapest in Singapore. Take note of the system you have, audition if possible and then buy.Sure if you like a particular component try and get the best deal for it. I do that too :-) Unless what you are buying is solely for MP3 playback I wouldnt recommend bringing it along to audition anything. The reason is simply this, MP3 recordings tend to sound "thin" (ie lacking in weight) you might end up getting a headphone that sounds nice with MP3 recordings but terrible with your regular CD. If I was listening to MP3 recordings I would get a pair headphones that would enhance the bass and roll-off the top end - obviously not a good candidate for a home based system where regular CDs are used. Remember I posted this in the home equipment section and as such it is meant for people building a headphone system for home use. Thirdly upgrading is fine, and yes it's a hobby, but it's not a equipment hobby, it's a music hobby. If you select your components carefully with auditions etc, chances are when you do make a change it will be an upgrade and it would be somtime before you make that upgrade. Never get the "flavour of the month" product just because it's on some introductory offer. In a nutshell what I am advocating is that when you audition keep in mind the system because it very well maybe that the component you intend to buy is not what you should be gettin. (eg. you may be auditioning CD Players but the component that you actually need is a better headphone or amplifier.) In other words keep an open mind about what you should be getting. Hope that clarifies what I'm advocating. Once more thing, it's nice to have a reference system (either a friend's or a system at a dealer's place) but be mindfull not to listen to it too often as you will become increasingly dissatisfied with what you have.
