    bank wire

TT or telagraphic transfer is easy and simple to do. You'll need the receipient's bank details and swift code. Usually all other charges are borne by the purchaser (ie you). It's very safe unless of course the seller is a con man. You can make payment by cash, or through your bank account (ie if you have a bank account with the bank that you are using to make the TT).
  3. Thank you and here's to a great 2007 eh! Wishing all of you a meaningful year ahead. Cambodia wow! Must visit that place one day - maybe in 2007!
  4. Thank you and have a wondeful and meaningful year ahead.
  5. Make iPod cases that hold a portable amp as well :-) Merry Christmas
  6. Just bring it to music by design to have it looked over. To save you the trouble of the trip plug in another pair of phones/cans into your amp and listen to the same music first.
  7. Send it in to Music By Design and they will replace the whole cable for you. I dont know how much Grado/Music By Design would charge though.
  8. Too much of a hassle to underdeclare. I rather state actual amount and pay the GST. It aint worth the risk.
  9. GST at prevailing rate ie 5% now and soon 7%
  10. I cant give you the exact price for a Rega P3 but it's in the reagion of S$1,000 (give or take a bit). Also depends on what cart you want to get with it. I suggest a Goldring. You can also get the NAD turntable (made by Rega) and is basically a P2 (there are some differences) but you get a 'free" goldring cart. Just make sure you have a phono amp or you amp comes with a phono stage (for MM cart at least). Besides the Rega you can try the basic Sota (available at Music By Design). The Project Debut is also a good starter turntable (for the life of me I cant remember the name of the shop now - it's the guys who bring in Clearaudio as well) When I remember I post again. The NAD is brought in by GP Acoustics. For new vinyl (and I recommend new vinyl) Music By Design usually has a decent selection but stocks run out pretty fast and it's ever changing. Their prices for new vinyl is also very fair. There are also a couple of second hand vinyl shops.
  11. What lens do you want AV? You need to come to my new place. Oi Firefox so when you bringing your new baby to my place huh?
  12. I'm pleased to say that we have worked out the finances for 2007 and there should be no problem. Should sgheadphones face any financial difficulties at a future time one of the mods or admin will bring the matter up. Once again thanks for the offers
  13. huang yong, It's not a one time cost as it keeps recurring annually. I'm not suggesting you're rich, I know as a former student you have come to my place many a time and even given you diy stuff. I wouldnt have given them if I thought you were rich :-) now would I.So believe me when I say I know that as you take your first steps into adulthood that things can be financially tight. But the S$2 amount is simply too small a contribution unless it can be automated. Plus the headache of having to comply with with I dont even know what rules and regulations are out there. I dont want to break any laws. But thanks for the offer. The mods and admin are working somthing out right now. I think we'll be okay for the next year or so.
  14. Huang Yong, Your estimate for the webspace is way way under. Anyway it's too much of a bother to collect $2 from 10% of the forum. What I'm looking for is for a few (may be 3-4) key contributors. Can I count you in? If it happens that is.
  15. This is my take and I may not have all the facts right about this one - yotaio is in a better/clearer position to answer this but since she's rather disgusted with what's going on in sgheadphones right now I'll answe first and she can correct me at a latter date. As some of you may know sgheadphones was started by ablaze who was also our first admin. He did this with his own money. At some point, I think when renewal costs came up, myself and a few others made contributions (financial) to sustain this ever growing forum. This proved to be cumbersome. An alternative was required like collecting revenue through advertisements. As ours is a small forum the revenue generated is frankly paltry at best. When yotiao was appointed by ablaze to take over, she wanted to make several major improvements. Some we persuaded her not to do as the time was not right. Since dealers started to become active and obviously got some benefit form the pool of potential customers we decided that this would be a better and fairer way to finance this forum. We had no qualms about losing one dealer (even though it meant less revenue) and we have no qualms about losing the others if they prove to violate any rule or regulation and behave in a manner that we deem to be in bad faith (ie not in good faith). Edit: I have spoken to yotiao and I can now confirm that sgheadphones had the intent but did not collect any money from any dealer period. I hope that has cleard things up for you Huang Yong. If you have any futher doubts, issues, speculative thoughts please feel free to PM me. If you like you can contribute financially to this forum I'll bring this up to fellow mods and admin and we can discuss if we want to accept this new method. Shall I call you tonight to discuss how much you're willing to contribute on a monthly basis? BTW I would like all of you to know that yotiao has been paying by herself to maintain this forum and putting in the time and effort to get things right and keeping it working. I dont see too many of you thanking her!
  16. Have 2 systems. Once is Nikon/Nikkormat and the other is Olympus. Nice catch firefox. Enjoy your new find.
  17. Happy birthday founder. Hope you like what you see in sgheadphones.
  18. ' Any hard ware store should have them.Try home-fix - they have several locations.
  19. Read the rules "No Auctions are to be posted in the Classifieds, only FS - For Sale, Trade, WTD - Wanted, WTS - Want To Sell, IC - Interest Check, FYI - For Your Info & Power Buy Ads are allowed." Repost your FS items.
  20. I dont think he was kidding. a solid state design should be a better option for low impedence cans. The original EarMax was designed for high impedence cans whilst the Pro version is supposed to be better for low impedence but IMHO still doesnt come close to somthing like the Micro Zolt from David Berning. The Cayin HA-1 is another option but try before you buy cos you may or may not have hiss issues (it's normal for tube amps to exhibit some hiss with cans that have both high sensitivity and low impedence.
  21. Make one or get a diy guy to make one for you. All you need is: 1) 6 pairs of good quality RCA like Vampire (at S$45 per pair) 2) A good quality switch 3) A box 4) Some silver of good copper wire (like XLO). You can get the stuff at Percy Audio or Wellbourne labs Totoal cost shoub be under S$600.
  22. For those who have a very limited budget I suggest you try wood cones. Experiment with various woods. Oak is reportely quite good. Many say ebony is better (but not better for the environment). The basic principle is isolation and absorbtion. Blue Tac is a fairly good absorber while sobothane is a lot better. Ceramics then to have better isonation then metal etc. Experiment and have fun.
  23. Happy Birthday man. Time to spluge :-)
  24. Ahem, Your source and amplifier and budget (as in who much you wanna spend). Otherwise the answers you goona get will be of very little use to you and this thread would be going around in circles.
  25. I think the expectations and the fact that you're looking at budget class components may be near impossible to match. I personally liked the Tannoy R1 (when it was in production) But it's far from having no colouration. Other budget speakers you should look out for are those from the likes of Mission/Monitor Audio. Not bad but all have colouration. The only bookshelf I have heard that has possiblity no colouration is way way beyond most people's budget - The Magico Mini. So I suggest that you lower your expectations somewhat and look for an "enjoyable" speaker. That is, a budget speaaker that you enjoy. The only way to do that is to bring along a few of your favourite CDs and start listening with your own ears (trust them - they are more reliable than you think). Stick to decent brands. If by budget you mean under 3k then do check out Stirling Audios' version of the LS3-5A. If it's less look to Mission, JPW, Tannoy and a few others to find your solution. Cheers and have a fun weekend.
