  1. long time nv log in.. Happy belated birthday Mackie !!!
  2. idkfa: yeah been listening to laruku since a long time.. own quite a few of their albums. They make very catchy pop/rock music.. easy and make u wanna groove.. like u mentioned hyde's work.. hm I did catch a bit of his early solo..but lost touch with his new stuff. But I think he did a pretty good job on his own too. The bassist Tetsu does have his own solo works too I think.. called Tetsu 69. Never had the chance to listen though. another underrated but good band would be The Brilliant Green.. their music is quite fresh and different from the usual j-pop/rock scene.abit on the grunge rock side(sorry i'm quite poor with this genre thingy hehe). All their albums are certainly a hit, but if you must listen I recommend the 2nd, 3rd(los angeles) and last(winter). Their themesong for j-doramas- 'nagai tameiki no youni' and sono supeedo de were the ones that propelled them to crowd in 2000 N3w_Typ3: no lah luna sea didn't copy the music style from them. Though Yoshiki(extacy record) managed them for their debut. But I think x-japan pioneered the so called visual kei in Japan for others like Luna Sea, Malice Mizer etc to follow. Yeah hide of X-Japan was found dead in his apartment hung.. suicide. People speculated it's because of X-japan's demise.. but noone knows for sure..
  3. hm... abit of correction.. the member - hide's death is not the cause of disband .. cause he died sometime after x-japan was disbanded. I think it's due to some personal conflict in which Toshi wanted to go his own ways and Yoshiki couldn't find the one to replace him, among many other problems.. Now I am digging more into Luna Sea's stuff.. good stuff
  4. ahh good one from the young one! hehee I am really impressed by those iso 800 pics from fuji f11... i think if I have the extra $$ it's worth it for that crucial low light shot
  5. FIrst time shooting my own IR filter.. weather not so favourable today pretty flat ligthing but nevertheless just make do with what I have..
  6. ok idkfa u r forgiven but first do post some pretty shibuya or harajuku girls ok
  7. from yesterday's hunting with a group of friends... still collecting christmas lightup photo.. just one pic to share..
  8. at least this one is 'better' any pretty chic pic from the cosplay?
  9. hope u all r not sick of this place yet.. changi boardwalk (again ..)
  10. didn't see any demo unit on dt440 yesterday.. sigh.. nvm other time hehe
  11. ok I would admit I am a turtle.. today went out with Lekguan and dropped by AA. FInally got the chance to hear these 'new' beyer cans... just to cut it short, I'm very impressed by the DT660.. quite a value for money given same price range as the AKG K501. To me the dt660 is very groovy(the k501 is plain boring in direct comparison), detailed(albeit lose out to monitoring dt150), bass is not overwhelming like dt770, and most importantly the vocals do not sound recessed as many other beyer cans. It sounds relly full and near. Only slight gripe it still does sound abit bright(?i) to my ears. The 860 is good(more expensive, of course) as well.. offering refinement from the 660, open means that it's much more airy. To my ears both cans do sound abit similar in some areas. I think it's interesting to see that beyers cover the areas that they lack.. those who prefer low impedance, easy to drive cans, and yet offer different presentation like other(880,770,931,etc). Certainly these cans are worth to check out for those getting a mid-range headphone
  12. i think i will be having nightmare after seeing that pic
  13. just some trashy pop music now listen more on j-rock esp luna sea stuffs..
  14. but LPs are quite restricted in terms of music release alot of stuffs I listen to don't come out in LP so there's no point..
  15. have a few japanese press cds.. very good recordings.. one of my fav is Fumiya Fujii - Retake. v intimate and clean detail - better than some of the so called reference cds I've heard but then for the price, I think most people would rather go for cheaper press. Imagine $50 for 1 cd vs $20, let's say you have 50 discs.. already $1500 .. that's alot of money which can be put to buy more music or invest in better gear. I used to buy a few but then felt the pinch was too much and hence stopped. If u have the cash to spare get them - if not settle for the second best hahah
  16. wonder where's our birthday boy...
