  1. Actually, I'd like him to stick around a bit longer and respond further in this thread, for no reason other than to let him shove his foot a little further past his mouth and down his throat. Perhaps serve as a warning to all the yaya papayas
  2. Reading that post above reminds me of something someone once told me, that it is sometimes better to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and confirm it beyond all doubt. I'll wait for Rameish to respond before I add my 2 cents.
  3. Unfortunatedly, I've had some other people irritate the heck out of me when trying to sell stuff on the classifieds. Similar to har28. One guy kept pming me about my airhead even after I stated explicitly I was not willing to go lower than my asking price. I'd reply, then he'll disappear for a week or so and then ask again, but never respond to my replies. A real pain, dealing with some of the characters here, I'm sorry to say. Please guys, learn to take no for an answer when bargaining.
  4. I've had one encounter with this guy myself, when he pmed me a lowball offer($90) for my sr80s when I put them up for sale, despite my stating explicitly that the price was not negotiable(I was selling them at $120). As it turns out I pulled the sr80s off the classads because I decided to keep them for the time being. I had no idea this person has such a history until Rameish's post though.
  5. I like the kimber silver streaks. Cheap(relatively) and good. Might be a little bright for some.
  6. The dt150s sound fine with the bbamp. I had the amp for a week, so I clocked plenty of hours with the dt150.
  7. Not that I know of. The guys at MBD are friendly and more than happy to allow auditioning of the grados, so maybe you can call them up to arrange for everyone to audition the cans( and check if they have enough stock of the sr80s) before buying. This kind of customer service is quite rare in singapore, unfortunately.
  8. I think Grado USA would be nuts to undercut their own dealer(MBD) and shoot themselves in the foot by selling you guys direct, below the local retail. And then there's the shipping costs to consider. And yeah, my vote is for the sr80s as well. Very nice airy, exuberent sound you'll not get with the sonys
  9. Eh, Ben, I'm commited! I even have the powercord ready for it!
  10. Rameish, the regulator bad...I mean bag I left behind is for transporting the BB. I'll pick it up from you next week.
  11. I'll bring mine along.

    Thinking of ....

hahahaaa!! it was sure a mess! I see also blur already, I think your description good enough. I think Naz can recognize his old charlie brown mint(mated to a dilbert battery pack) in the photo, as well as the dt250s. The panasonic is a 790. not in the photo are the nad 541i, dt150 and xcans v3. there sure are a lot of plainviews lying around!
  14. One final pic for this thread.
  15. Headphoneholics Annonymous: "Hi, my name is XXX and I'm a headphoneholic" *everyone else sitting around a circle nods in sympathy*
  16. you got pm. (OK, I'm out, items are still available. )
  17. Hmm..now you have the same opamp and the big solen caps used in the ra1. It'll be interesting to hear how it sounds.
  18. Very nice, with all that extra space for you can eventually put in nicer stuff like the neutriks locking 1/4 " headphone jack, alps blue etc etc. Out of curiosity, what opamp are you using in this amp?
  19. I wouldn't risk ruining a perfectly good mahagony case by doing that. Besides, the innards are potted, and there's no space to squeeze in stuff like the alps pot anyway. Doesn't make any sense to me.
  20. Since you already have the original ra-1, and the clone does not sound any different you might as well spend money on a home cd player instead. If I remember correctly, there's a couple of other guys here that have built clones, can't remember their names. If you want firefox to build, and even assuming that he agrees(remember he's doing ns and only books out on weekends), you will likely have to be patient and wait a few months(like I did), or more, because he has a lot of other stuff on his plate. Price will depend on parts used, as well as labour costs(a lot of work involved sourcing the parts and soldering, casework etc etc etc etc).
  21. I'll take a couple of better shots on tuesday. P.S. The psle clone sounds pretty much the same as the orginal ra1 and the naf naf clone(also built by firefox), which is no big suprise, since the opamp and solen caps are the same as the original.
  22. This ra-1 clone was built for me by our very own Firefox, following the original ra-1 values but uber maxed out with the following: Alps Black Beauty potentiometer Neutriks locking headphone jack Cardas rodium plated rca jacks Big fat aluminium knob Neutriks XLR jack Battery connecters terminating in a Neutriks XLR plug ..ok, there's something else but I can't remember what I officially christian it the RA-1PSLE (PSLE= Premium Super Limited Edition) Many thanks again to firefox for taking time out from his veery vveery busy schedule to put this nifty little amp together for me(he's still doing his NS). Enjoy the pics.
  23. Naz, please add my new RA-1 Clone to the list.
