From one of the pic, you can see that it comes with a wall charger..

Mystery solved, it should have internal battery. Thus PORTABLE. Or could i be wrong?

I'm willing to bet a hair that it doesn't have a internal battery, notice the power plug to mini usb cable beside? It was designed to be used with a PC or Mac and if you so desire, the line out of a player powered by the wall wart.

Also, the placement of the volume knob would make the 'amp' a pain in the rear to use portably.

Is this thing good for gaming? I want a good sound card for my laptop so that I can finally ditch my desktop

My laptop surpasses desktop in all things but sound...

Now that is bad news.

While there is no built in internal battery, but still you can plug the AC adaptor and power up the X-mod via power plug to mini USB adaptor, then connect your player to the X-mod to hear the difference.

My only wish is that hopefully someone will come out a rechargable battery pack for X-mod to be portable use.

AFAIK, USB draws out aroun 4-5V of power.

USB Voltage is 5V @ 500mA max.

Thus it is still can be portable used, but with external battery pack (if there is one).

And I was just saying that if a portable version of X-Fi appears I'd buy it straight. Now what do we have here? Seems like I can do a little comparison between Xmod and my PA2v2

[edit] Damn not for portable use? Screw you Creative.
