Morning Mackie, I have no Golden Ears, i can't hear 30hz< and >18khz (Confirmed, period.). I tried the following setups 1) CD5000 -> (1m)monster400mk2 ->obh11->hp the sound is too forward like it got truncated. 2) CD5000 -> (2m)Ed acoustic ->obh11->hp it sounds right on time. 3) CD5000 -> monster400mk2 -> obh11+obh2 ->hp it sounds right on time. 4) CD5000 -> (2m)Ed acoustic -> obh11+obh2 ->hp it sounds right on time also. That's why i suspect the length does matter, I suspect only and I have no evidence at all. Moreover the ICs are of different brands. As u have explain earlier, it's a big topic as there is even school of thought on the lengthy issue.

Mackie, did u try using the same brand of IC but of diff length, say, one is 1m and another one is 2m to connect between cdp & hp amp? If so, any findings in term of sonic? Thanks!

hi adhoc, hmm...u price tag for opt 1 is 950 and opt 2 is 782, guess u budget is <= 1000. with that, u can have more than 2 opt if u highest priority is quality music listening. my suggestion is not to limit the opt to 2. Other more experience members can help u to build a decent music listening sys.

Get a good cdp or a good pcdp first. u HPs will sound better and later get HP amp and u HPs will sound even better. This is assuming that u gears currently own or to be purchased matches each other.

I m using a NAD C440 tuner. It got warm sound and dialogue sound very "live" and "real" through creek amp and senn 600. However, I mainly use the tuner for spk setup. It sounds plain directly into the amp, the sound got open up using the EQs through the Yamaha EQ7.

Good Afternoon , This is to update the thread. I've gotten the Koss ksc 50, prefer it over 55 as it's more convenient to bring around. Compare it to the Sony MDR-G73SP, it fast, focus,bass..not deep and full(compare to V700DJ, 700 is closed and has 50mm driver) but, really, ample of bass, very accurate. The Sony MDR-G73SP is too polite already. Listen it with Teresa Teng's songs, i would say it ok lah. Listen to string quartets, ok also but the strength of the hp is not really shown. I tried those trance musics in Gatecrasher National Anthem, the Corrs and i would say it's really suitable for pop/rock/trance. There is no a single hp that have the strength of all. Tell me if u know.
