  1. Yet another bird.. Taken at Queensway..
  2. I got approval from CO and S2.. hehe.. So I got a LoA for my camera for 2 months..
  3. Your guess is as good as mine.. Haha.. It's just a bypass cap somewhere in the digital supply..
  4. Some pictures that I took while in camp.. There are many other nice shots that I can't show because they show equipment and camp surroundings.. I'm very fond of the shots with assault boats speeding across the water in formation though.. Ditto with the float bridges.. Anyone knows what this bird is? I have absolutely no idea.. Across from the camp.. Many tall trees there... Apparently the land was reclaimed and the trees planted to block the view of our neighbours up north..
  5. I was about to say my amp but nevermind.. Those 2 headphones are at rather extreme ends from each other. Not many amps are that neutral and be able to drive them equally well. I'd suggest Corda HA2 or Prehead (not the MK II variants of both since I haven't heard them). Both the Prehead and HA-2 are very decent and solidly built. They also have a fairly neutral tone and shouldn't have any issues with either of the 2 headphones.
  6. All transformers pollute mains supply. Read up on Equitech Balanced power technologies to get further understanding. Basically, all transformers have some form of reactance to the mains. Hence, by using seperate tranformers for the digital and analog power supplies, you reduce the reactance/ pollution from each supply from the other. Then there are other technicalities like the type of transformers used etc..
  7. uPZ for a player built like a tank..
  8. A plastic folder for storing documents will do. Most bookshops sell them for no more than $3. You can even decorate it if you wish.. Get an arty-farty friend to go bonkers with markers on the folder..
  9. You seem to have allowed the flash to fire off.. Shouldn't have done that..
  10. Something I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with. If you know how amplifiers and output circuits work, the Grados are actually harder to drive than HD600's or the HD595's. A dedicated amplifier should be devoted for the Grado SR-325's for them to sound best.
  11. Actually, they have/ will have lense support. Panasonic is ditching Leica for the 4/3 system. They're going to release a 4/3 DSLR in 2006 together with Olympus and Fuji (looks like they're dumping Nikon too). With an electronics giant backing the 4/3 system, I don't think there will be a lack of support for the system. The 4/3 system also makes the camera more lightweight as an advantage. The Dynax 7D can use the same lenses as the Maxxum/ Dynax film SLR cameras so there's no lack of lenses as this series is fairly mature. In fact, the Dynax 7D is basically a Dynax 7 film SLR with an anti-shake CCD built-in instead of 35mm film.

    New CDP

Do I spy a pair of WBT RCA outputs there? The nut should be round with 3 holes if they're WBT.. =)

Looks well designed.. Mechanically as well.. They seem to have redesigned the loader mech. Should be more sturdy.. Good use of R-core, bobbin transformer as well.. They're known to be better for digital supplies. Tranditional E/ C core type transformer for the tube stage too.. Nice... Neat layout as well.. You've definitely got what you paid for... Remember to invite me over once the burn-in is complete.. LOL..
  14. Use the following for AD8610 family. It's better for this particular family of opamps and also because I'm not sure if the opamp receives dual or single rail power.
  15. Considering Taxi fares, it'd have been cheaper to pay for the Auricap than to go back another day too! LoL.. Brahm: That's by no means an expensive mod.. In fact, I'd say the bill of parts was dirt cheap if anything. That's of course, relative to how stingy a person is.
  16. LM6172's aren't bright.. (they are brighter than OPA627's but nowhere near the AD8620's) If it does sound that bright, it may be oscillating.
  17. It's actually 2.4v.. Try Well Audio Labs for Solens. Note that the Solens are quite a bit bigger than the Rifa's. The voltage for the 1,000uF cap can be as low as 3.3v or 4v if you do not intend to up the supply voltage beyond 3v (Obtainable with normal batteries). That will bring the size down. In fact, Koba has 820uF/ 4v Oscons if you intend to stick by them.
  18. It doesn't have very high current output to begin with.. Also, I recommend that you use at least a 1000uF cap on the output if you wish to drive 32ohms or lower impedance cans. Otherwise, there will be attenuation of signals.
  19. Ditch the Evox caps and put a pair of 1uF Solens in instead. That will brighten up the sound.
  20. More stuff added into the player... Goodbye to more crappy caps.. =p
  21. New toys!!! 108 pieces bought today... Guess I was in a spending mood.. LOL
  22. FYI, this may be a better deal w/o shipping. However, the ER-4P/S are available locally at that price (S$460) and will come with local warranty. Perhaps you could try and help the guys here get obscure Sony headphones like the CD-3K's instead? Edit: Correction on the cost of the ER-4P/ S locally. They're now S$460 at Hung Brothers.
  23. A Cmoy will sound better. But there are pros and cons. A cmoy will set you back more, have less running time and uses 9v batteries (these take a longer time to charge than AA's with fast chargers). OTOH, if you actually use the LM4881 circuit with proper audio caps for the output and input, it should sound at least decent and will be very simple to build and use. Proper boutique caps aren't small by the way...
  24. Looks like the big brother of the MDR-F1's. Sony's 2nd open headphones.. LOL..
  25. For some unknown reason, it reminds me of my last trip to Sentosa:
