  2. I take back my words about the "nano" earlier. I had one go at it this afternoon and boy was I darn amazed. Totally different experience seeing the pictures and holding one. It's truly "impossibly small" and freaking sleek~
  3. progressive anyone interested in a short sample? xeonster dun mind rip a sample track for us.. here you go.. sample on progressive.. its not very commonly a genre that is well received..most of the younger ones like me tend to listen more to ahbeng techno or newage sample I'm in for a sample! Just that the cover reminds me so much of pink flyold's art.
  4. *budget on hold Will reply u in another separate mail regarding them. best rgds,
  5. If this ipod's nano implies nanotechnology, which i think not. Or if it anyway suggests the size, darn, I don't want it in my body! lol. I agree that it's slim and perhaps cool to some, but there is something odd looking about this player doen't it? I am not an ipod hater but i sure prefer the mini. And the issues of the "nano" copyright...well, looks like there will be endless stuffs from microsoft and creative for some time!
  6. Apologies in my mistake in identifying the earphone. But have you checked with others who had paired the Er-6 with the PV2V2 yet? Regarding the loose part and the static in your amp, i wonder if gary's willing to replace or fix them?
  7. Hello gitzlaff and welcome to SGHeadphones, I'm sorry that you did not get a good experience with your set from Gary Ali. I had just read your review on the PA2V2 and I do respect your opinions on them. But one thing that I've picked up from the other experienced audiophiles is that result do differ from people to people. I can't say much for pairing your PA2V2 with a Er-6i, but having owned more than 10 different makes of headphones, I can certainly say that it worked amazingly good on certain headphones while weak on others. For eg, It sounds nothing great on my shure E5c but amazingly great on my Etymotic ER-4s. Great on my Beyer DT250 but not amazing on my Ultrasone HFI-650. Results unfortunately, varies. In my opinion, perhaps you should try them on other headphones and see if you can hear a greater significance? There is always a reason for the existance of certain products. You just have to find the right problem with your answer. One thing for sure, is that the Ety ER-6i are made to go ampless and they do not make great benchmarks with amps. So it's really unnecessary to pair it with an amp. I'm sure you'll get some opinions from others and those who'll swear by Gary's amp in head-fi. Best rgds,
  8. Hello to you and welcome to SGHeadphones. It's actually pretty taxing to answer to your qns. Soooooo much infos and stuffs to list and point out. I really suggest you check out Head-Fi forums. They'll give you all you'll ever need. Sometimes I can go on for hours just reading on one topic. Or you can ask specifically and we can answer better than to an open ended qns. =] http://www4.head-fi.org

    mp3 players

"L" versions iAudios are simply longer battery support versions of their MP3 players. The former Audio M3 also features the "L" version. Of cse more expensive. Other than that, they're simply the same. But do bear in mind that the iAudio players need to connect to an adapter before they can go Line-Out. Irivers don't need to. They already have a built in Line-Out.

    Hi all!

    Greetings from tokyo.
  12. I don't have audiophile quality expensive cables but I always wondered how much significance I can get from upgrading a $20 cable to a $100 cable. Of cse there's always the psychological effect on expensive things. I will be keeping a watch on this thread. Am interested to find something within my budget to get a significant improvement. Btw Stereo_Electronics, could you introduce yourself a little before I get confused. Owner, employee etc..
  13. This is one kind and super generous dealer dudes! Happy birthday Qoo and welcome to sgheadphones Stereo_Electronics!!
  14. My first amp was the PA2V2 and I definitely recommend it. It's cheap enough and has good resale because of its affordability. We spoke about the impressions in the PA2V2 thread. Did you chk it out?
  15. Forward sounding would definitely be Grados. I usually listen to strings related instruments with them, while others prefer rock and faster music. I also do get uncomfortable and feel fatigue after prolonged use with the grados because of the way they sit on my ear and the forwardness. Generally people like to refit the grados with the sennheiser's yellow earpads for better comfort. The orignial Grado bowls hurt *ouch! But do note that the senn pads do make your Grados sound different from the original bowls. Do experiment and find out yourself. This is purely my own opinion but I really do not like listening to "cheap" music, (pop, techno or britney-like music) for my Shures. Good phones simply magnify the bad stuffs in a poorly recorded album. If it's Britney or Ayumi techo madness, it's my aiwas I'm listenig to. LOL. Do ask around and read up on Head-Fi regarding the characteristics of certain earphone/headphones. Diff genres of music showup differently on certain phones. You might want to tell us your type of music and source used...etc, for better recommendations.
  16. And she's wearing a cordless headphone unit in the open?? I don't think your friend gave u a right id.
  17. It's simply that different phones project differently. Have you tried the chicken rice in maxell hawker and compared it with the one from bedok hawker ? I dun mean to be rude but if they all sound or taste the same, who would care about selective buying? The tripods are definitely more upfront and slightly high for my taste. Shure E5c are totally in a different class. Did you try listening to classical piano solos with them yet? Get some instrumental tracks with good decay. ie, piano, cello.. to really find out what you shures can do. The tripods simply are no good with these genres. Perhaps they sound good with pop songs. Grados are definitely extremely forward sounding and harsh in some cases. Do chose you music wisely when using certain headphones. I would let Joss Stone go too near my grados...lol. But she sounds great on my Ath-D1000.
  18. Those styrofoams are not those cheap ones you'll see in cheap packagings. But rather the more tightly packed and compressed type. Think the styrofoams you see with an apple ibook, except that they are stronger. Most people here buy them as stands for shelves and racks. They can support an entire washing machine! Weight wouldn't be an issue because the weight of the headphone itself stablizes it. I wouldn't mind doing a group but it's kinda mad to send styrofoams over~ (get someone's soldering iron and inscribe them yourself lah! lol)
  19. I can only read the "mdr-" on the top portion. Boy, that headphone sure looks strange. Like a sunny side up fried egg.
  20. I have friends here in tokyo who buys those brick looking polystyrene or styrofoams for their staxes in the local art stores. I believe you can try looking for them in Bras Basah. Perhaps Sagacity or Art Friend have them. They look exactly like a normal brick. Only that they are hardened foams. If not, just buy a thick piece of styrofoam and cut them to size. You might also wanna try to bend an acrylic sheet like a inverted serif U. Bras Basah is your best friend.
  21. Unfortunately I have never heard them. I don't think I ever will chance upon this little one. Worth the $1K? I think it's madness. I rather spend them on a full sized can. If you are toying with the idea of a canalphone, get the E5 or the ER-4s. Can't be any wronger than those highly rated phones. Etymotics are good for the money. If you are vent on getting UEs, get the newer and more affordable super-fi 5 pro.
  22. This looks so neat for the money. Someone get them and do a review?
  23. That is one very angry email. I am glad that it worked for you. But still doesn't the warranty cover such defects? I know that they repair for free even when damaged during normal usage. Perhaps the customer service officer at Wisma was a newbie? I think inferior quality for Sony Products are pretty isolated cases. I wouldn't typecast them but some of the products do bear bad worksmanship. It's often form over function these days. Look at those vintage Sony PCDPs. Even after 20~years, they still run like a horse. I think it's important to be selective on chosing their products. Some are real keepers but some...well,...
  24. Hello all, I'm considering selling my silver Xin Supermacro Ver1.0 Comes with 4 full switches including: Ety ER4p>4s switch Gain switch Bass switch Crossfeed switch using 627 opamps. Accessories: Charger 8 X 900mah rechargable batts ********** Hi, thanks to all who replied via PM. I think due to the current low resale value of the SM V1 on headfi, I'll withdraw the item for sale. Too much difference for what I paid for. Apologise to those who thought my asking was too high. I'll keep them and sell them 20 years later as a vintage amp then. LOL. Best rgds,
