with the shure e5cs you wont find the need to upgrade anytime soon.. it sounds as musical as it can be.. if amp-ed properly its very close to open air, i got my adcom pre-amp repaired and using it to drive the earphones, i almost thought i was wearing my beyers instead if you buy a pair of e2cs for 170 bucks sgd.. soon you will start itching and wonder how the ety er6i sounds like.. and eventually.. oh no how does the e3c and e4c compare up to it? how abt ety er4p/4s?.. then.. hm.. how abt westone um1?.. and whilst spiraling up the line of different products.. wouldnt it have been better if you've gotten something closer to the top of the line to minimse monetary loss eventually as everyone's got the tendency to upgrade? i would suggest probably westones um2, or UE superfi pro as an alternative(westone um2 was actually the original e5c drivers, except shure did some modifications etc and sold them as e5cs).. after listening to dual driver iems.. i've decided not to return to single drivers the effect's quite permanent once you hear a dual driver, and get wow-ed by the soundstage of such tiny earphones.. percussion never felt that real and dynamic

in my amp..if i were to increase the resistance of my output.. any deterioration of sound? apparently people who use a resistance plug had experienced sound improvements and.. which op-amps are known to have very good dynamic control, and have tamer highs? i want to modify digi01's earmax clone for an even better sound .. tubes make v good pre-amping, but one thing i feel is that the tubes are a little less controlled.. sound's a little looser with a bit of decay delay.. thus.. opamp circuitry before or after the tubes?

i have the b1 model of that musical fidelity amp!! do you know of any one who has one of those A1s and willing to let go second hand? i could probably use it for headphones.. my dad got that vincent amp from a friend, refused to tell me the price. it runs real freaking hot with two rows of heatsinks on both sides.. i'm trying to find out whats the output cuz it seems to drive my low efficiency speakers effortlessly.. i've retired my tubes.. they seemed to have paled a little in comparison

Almost 12 hours of operation right now.. first few hours of listening, the sound seems to have quite some emphasis on the highs, i was wondering whether my beyers had morphed into grados <-- before i increased the resistance with increasing operation, the sound is increasingly smoother, but the amp is probably far from being run-in The amp benefits from increasing the output resistance, i used the level attenuator which came with my shures on the output, put it to close to only 10% vol (i.e. high resistance) and cranked the amp vol up. Sound mellowed a lot with this increase in resistance, bass is tighter and punchy, it seems as though the highs have been tamed. Listening to Ayako Hosokawa, Josh Groban, Alessandro Safina, the airyness is quite notable, on both dt 880s and e4cs, the sound is suprisingly very intimate with the e4cs, vocals were very enjoyable with it.. it seems that i might be listening more to my IEMs than my open-air headphones.. but its probably too early to pass a judgement right now. i will probably be hunting for some cello music soon.. heard some nuances of strings in some tracks.. and the strings were warm sounding

my dad just came home with one.. sv-231 class A amp.. and i was blown away by the class A sound.. too used to class A/B.. it seems that everything's coming to life.. tried to google for more info but all i got was a load of german gibberish

shipped on approx 2 saturdays back and its here! approximately 11 days for arrival via china post. came in a huge paper box filled with 80% paper shreddings and the amp snuggly in the middle there was also some spongey material inside the amp to cushion the tubes and everything.. and here's a picture of the innards i m currently letting the amp to warm up and run in before posting a review. initial impressions, it goes well with my beyer dt 880s, bass is punchy and clean.
