    Creek OBH21

u can go gown to the sgheadphone meet this sunday and try the various hdamps and cans brought down by our fellow forumers, read about it on the lunge lizards.
  4. You can buy better quality plugs and thicker, chunky cables and DIY, it will cost more than $2, but certainly not cheapo looking. Approach LHT(sim lim tower) or anything audio if you need help for termination, for a samll fee
  5. Ditto Mackie! Max, sometimes while travelling, I wear my DT770pro with Zen, good enough, but of course, you can't beat if you've a headamp, u realize the shortcomings of direct output. SO finally you bought DT 880, good for you, @ $399? a year ago, u need to pay $450..members have its benefits
  6. I did make an enquiry with anything audio on the "new" range of DT770,880 & 990 and he explained it is plain face-lift, esp for dt770/990 (design not changed since ?) to give it a more modern look ie silver colour cup. Personally I am not sure, as I prefer the cold black look of my dt770pro I suspect that the cup of dt880 might be plastic (looks like that on picture) compared to the current aluminium grill right now.
  7. HI Soulmad, anything audio is at parklane shopping mall (along Selegie Road) 4th level. They deal mainly in Beyer headphones, but do have this akg model and even hd 650-which that guy says is for display only if u want to drop by, bring along your CDs, they allow testing
  8. Was at anything audio and enquired on their rack-displayed K501 and was quoted $230.
  9. Sonical, u r not wrong, the amp costs RMB1K plus, round about S$200 plus. There is no shop in Singapore that sells a variety of headamp under one roof, buy you could find shops that sell headphones under one roof - stereo electronics, hung bros & anything audio
  10. Friend, look under "Classified" and look for "WTS" posted Mackie for New Siang Shen headamp. This should suit you and your budget. Gd luck
  11. Check WTS posting by Mackie. he has one new prc-made valve headamp to let go at $250. Same time, chk with him whether he has any good lobang for HD600, but i know he has still 1 hd 650..or is it sold?
  12. Why were both drivers changed? Were they demaged? Just curious b4 I made a decision? I guess it must have cost more than $30 for both drivers, not forgetting pads.
  13. I second that! Anything is located at Parklane Shooping Mall along Selegie Road, not the one at Penang Road. That be-spectacled stuff seems more interested to know what I have (hardwares) than selling me-definitely not typical SL Sq people. So I bought a pair of ear-pad for my DT 150 to "reward" him.
  14. Anyone knows where to find Fostex headphones? Tks in advance. No one mention this brand? but i managed to try in Akihabara, decent, but looks weird.
  15. I found DT 234 headset in anything audio at parklane, go check it up!For your purposes, Beyer is considered expensive, there're many headsets one can find in Challenger and SL Sq, dirt cheap; but not durable
  16. Luther Music relocated to basement of Peninsula Shopping Centre for a while already. That place has become the place for musician, especially guitars. Swee Lee is never an ideal place to demo speakers, and I ma not even sure they carry Tapco. They seem more keen on musical instruments, as their range of PA stuff gets lesser and lesser. I only know of few places where one can try out studio monitors - Sinamex (KRK), MPZ at Singapura Plaza (Yamaha) and Anything (Dynaudio Acc). Anyone knows heard of Adams-the one with ribbon tweeter?
  17. Yon I don't mean that. It is a matter of relative - for the same price ear-pad, its percentage in terms of the cans' cost will differ greatly, say between a $89 cans and a $499 cans. BTw anyone knows, besides the agent, where can I buy beyer ear-pads, in sls? Agent's office (pasir panjang) is too far from where I stay
  18. There are many cheap ear pads around, but just can't fit. Like Beyer DT 231, if u examine carefully, its ear-pad comes in a form of clip-on frame, not only the sponge, so you have no choice but to buy from Beyer. But usually, for a less than $100 headphone, you need to pay around 25-30% for its replacement, hard to stomach sometimes. Not so much when your gear costs 200-300.
  19. I'm surpirsed MIB wholesales Grados to a dealer, I prefer to visit Stereo as they look more friendly, both of them must have a treaty to sell at the same price. It never happens when other brands are concern - like AT, Sen and Beyer. I'm impressed with many Sen demo counter, esp the one at Tangs, though never get to try. Does stereo has dedicated hdamp as source?
  20. My experience is the same for Beyerdynamic DT 990 ear pad, it costs me $30.I don't own any Sen cans, but can you guys change to the velvet material? it definite lasts longer than the "leather" version. The latter disintegrates and always leave a ring mark around your ears.Check out Sen for more options of material.

    New Beyers!

It is only resonable for Beyer to venture into this "trend" or "lifestyle" to appeal to the younger generation. I believe most of us here, be it Beyer, Grado, Senn....supporters will say it is not audio phile enough, but from business point of view, Beyer still needs to cater that new segment, which Senn has already done so with their very own "trend" line. Sound aside, the design is the key competitive factor. Of course, I still prefer the big headphone that Beyer makes...ultimate target: DT880 with Cayin (sigh, no agent here)

    Coin Tweaks

Hey guys, I do agree tweaking with coins works in certain aspect. But I heard another school of believers that claim that using denser and more exotic materials works, and this hobbyist uses 1-ounce Maple leaf gold coin (multiple somemore) instead of using the humble 1 or 5 cents coins. Imagine the tweat will cost more than the equipment being used.
  23. Good morning, aren't you a bit too late? they ran out of stocks when I dropped by during lunch yesterday. Now they are lelonging DT131TV at $69.

    JBL Sales

Hi Mackie, I never like HT, so just glanced through the display. I saw mainly huge floorstand (typical American style) speakers. I don't remember seeing multi-meida speakers. The DT-880 is going at ouch $599, agent's retail price. But it is a good exposure for Beyer, becuase there was quite a crown at the corner, and most of them could not believe a cans of this price. You can buy a AVR with DTS, Dolby Ex-Digital, 7.1, blah blah blah with that price tag......but they are never like those of us in this forum. Wait till they hear that we are using headphone amplifier that costs above 1K..and it can't drive even a small bookshelf!

    JBL Sales

I was down at United Square and boy will you find lots of Harman, JBL and Infinity products on lelong sales. It was quite a good crowd on a Friday lunch time. And guess what, Beyer's agent has a small display area, and our favourite DT-880 was hooked up to a Marantz (don't know what model and product) and it was good, but regretably, the Home Theatre is making thunderous noise. For those loking for a budget cans for your portable, the DT131 is going at $49. GSS on its prowl again. Roarrrrrr
