  1. As for the connectors, I reckon you'll have to cannibalize your stock cable. The stocks are Litz cable, very fine and individually insulated. You'll need to snip-off about 5cm of the cable from the connectors, strip 1cm of the end of the cable, slowly remove the insulation. The new cables should be a twisted pair, mentioned in one of my previous post, ideally spiced/crimped to the other end as in the Equinox cable design.
  2. Lengcm's 1.1 has a pair of balanced output.
  3. Hey Tee, If you are selling your X5000 please do let me know first hand. Thanks
  4. Mat, didn't know U R a Metalhead! Listening to some Slipknot, Systematic & Apocalyptica>
  5. If I'm not wrong you can plug the K1000 directly into this baby without any mod too.
  6. It has a external power supply too! I'm just wondering how the hack to control the volume with no pot?
  7. Gots some pics of the KSA-5 from the owner. Looks like a different design from pic of initial post. Any comments from the techies? I did not see any knobs?
  8. I think you can plug in 3 pair s of cans at the same time + 5Watts of power! I've PM the seller to deal, and waiting for reply.
  9. I this this baby was selling for new US$1500. I'm not sure if they are still making it, but look like a real collector's item.
  10. Someone is selling this amp, appreciate any comments or info from any forumer.
  11. You can audition the Regas at CD Acoustics at Adelphi, go look for Jimmy.
  12. Just put some $$$ on a used Sony CDP-X3000ES, going up to Thailand to shop for some furniture, parts and accessories. Do you know that there is a Adelphi equivalent in Bangkok at the Amarin Plaza and a SLT equi call Old Siam Plaza. The last time I visited, the prices were cheaper than Singapore.
  13. If you are referring the sound that you heard over at the meet, yes I guess it could be the system matching - Chord Cables & Headmaster. You should listen to it if you have a chance with other combination of headamps/ics.
  14. The X5000 is a very good & unique player. It has a fix lens transport ie. only the transport will move and track. IMHO if you find the Opera 1.1 too bright, it might be the system matching or you can always try the 2.2 which shares almost the same electronics except for a tube buffered RCA output stage ala MF X10D. Worth a listen, and at S$1400 now it is a steal.
  15. I've tried their 501 two months back with the Cyrus setup and they sounded OK to me.
  16. Not too sure myself, have used them before, but have no idea about the schematics? May be the DIYers in the forum can comment on it? Firefox, care to comment?
  17. Yepp, on many many occasions, some quite memorable, some quite forgetable. One very good eg. is when I drove pair of cans (could not remember exactly which model but a Sony) thru a C.E.C. player, need I say more... BTW, be very careful if you are doing it straightout of the RCA, might just blow you drivers away - make sure you have variable out control on the player, lower the volume all the way down before plugging any thing in! Alternatively you can also have some passive volume control as an interface too.
  18. Using a headamp is an acquired taste for some, but once you've tasted it there is usually no turning back. I think I'll need to go for detox & cold turkey treatment, please lock me up!
  19. I truly agreed with you on the topic, but IMHO a properly match headamp will add finesse to the already great headphones, if you have the xtra greens to spare.
  20. Yes, I will like to know how do the RKV + MFCD3 combo sounds? With the different characteristics of the Cyrus & MF, they must have a totally different presentation hah?
  21. I think Opera has their Cyber 30 amp with the 2A3 and I've heard that can be mod to fit the 300Bs. Going by their popularity in HKland, a great head amp too.
