  1. I'll give this Penguin "CMOY" a 9 out of 10. Fantastic sound for such a small DIY. Sounded very good with the Koss and Sennheiser. If not for the rather sparse and loose fittings I'll defintely give it a 10! Bravo!
  2. I'm in but might have to fake some IDs for the minors!
  3. I bought my new at $180 from Hung brothers!
  4. Should have posted earlier. Just bought mine yesterday afternoon!!!
  5. I think someone should close this thread?
  6. Tested it with the stock tubes with my HD580 + equinox, sounded quite decent and musical. But I was told it might help if you tube rolled - no experience rolling the T-2A. They are value for money if you ask me. Almost bought one for RMB1800 but had to giveup as my other audio purchases were over 50kg, phew!
  7. I'm intersted in the Tivoli Model CD. Appreciate any feedbacks on their products.
  8. Pleassee bring them along. I've listen to them for bout 20mins in China and will love to check them out again.
  9. It all depends on what Mac peripherals and software we are using with it. I'm a Mac Classic collector and restorer myself, have used the Macs for professional audio editing and broadcasting. Have you heard of the "Protools" by Digidesign used on almost all CD/audio mastering? Well they basically run on a Mac. You can download a LE version Mac/PC for free from their site. But beware, you will need extra hardware and power to go realtime with more than 8 tracks. Can always find something on ebay - cards / softwares.
  10. Forgive me asking, but how and where do u actually use the "plugs". I'm guessing they are like the 75ohms terminators used for terminating video signals in video systems?
  11. The first batch had the all "silver" chasis + unshealthed transformer. The later units mostly come with the black top + shealthed trans. Northern Oak's "black" top unit was shipped directly from the factory. I was told that they do not produce many of them. I'll like to share my personal experience bout the hum/noise from my RKV. I've tried the Sony V6 & other low impedance phones plugged directly to the RKV, at zero volume, no source input, and I do get some hiss and noise. But with the impedancer everything is OK. Must be impedance matching haah? BTW the RKV impedancer is 8, 16, 32 & 64 ohms, quite different from the Cayin's rating.
  12. I guessing that tomcat's Cayin's could be from the first production batch, i.e. the transformer without the metal shealthed cover which explain the hum. It could also be that his 12AX7 and 12AU7 are placed in the wrong sockets, I think? Correct me if I'm wrong but teh 12AX7 should be closest to the window. Damn Chinese tubes & manual got no indication and markings at all. I reckon it is not healthy for you turn your volume up to 1 o'clock, most of time 9-10 o'clock will suffice to enjoy any kind of music.
  13. If your are talking Norah Jones CD, my opinion is that the local CD pressing & engineering sucks. You should listen to the SACD hybrid pressing - much better engineering and sound quality.
  14. I've a couple of dozen of pepsi blue that I share with everyone but need some wheels to transport it over. Any volunteer?
  15. OK, I'll bring along the impedancer for the low IM cans + my HD580 & equinox. Looking forward to testing the R10 on the RVK!
  16. Bring your discs to the meet and try out the other sources.
  17. I'll be coming definitely! Anyone interested in listening to my RKV? BTW what kind of source do we expect to see at the meet? If someone can provide transportation, I can wheel along my Cyrus CD7Q+PSX-R.
  18. Can I come, can I come? Pardon me for asking, exactly where is the meet?
  19. What is the age of your Grado, possible to post some pics?
  20. The Cayin is awaiting payment next week. Both items might also turn up at the next meet. Moderator's edit: Both items are sold. Thread is locked.
  21. It is the 2.3 from now with SACD. Opera has stop making the 2.2.
