So, which do you think sounds best out of them all?

Well I just chose the 8610 because it is whats in my Arcam CD player! The only others I have heard are the JRC something, LM358 and an OPA 2132. But none were in the same peice of equipment so...

Seems there are not a lot of fans of the opa! That?s burrbrown isn?t it? Just a silly question now, what is the difference between a buffer and an op-amp? I mean in building a PPA I have seen people talk about swapping the buffers for op-amps or something to make it cheaper. My understanding of a buffer is that it is something that can store a bit of a signal and then release it at a slightly later time. Like a buffer on your CD-R drive!

Yes, it makes quite a nice improvement! I have not used it very much without it in the link, but the most obvious things are that the soundstageing is more accurate and all instruments have a much more detailed texture. For example you can tell the difference between different makes of cymbal on the drum kit, whereas without it it is more difficult. You can hear the type of metal and stick used etc... Maybe the difference is not quite as strong as it sounds from reading this though, but it has that kind of effect.

Excuse my ignorance, but why does a pen cost so much? What is in it?? I mean I see it looks nice, but $800?!

*gloat mode on* Okay, now I haven't posted here in a little while and there is a reason! The amp I ordered arrived about a week ago. It is a Cayin A-88T - KT88 push-pull triode. After a few days of moving around my room to get better speaker placement and doing some xmas shopping, I have now had the chance to take a proper listen! My system for headphone listening is now as follows: BADA LB3000 Power Conditioner Arcam Alpha9 CD spinner Cayin A-88T valve amp DIY pure silver cable AKG K1000 headphones I am actually finding it hard to say how this setup sounds because I can not find any fault with it!!! Before when I had the same setup but with my Cyrus 3 in place of the Cayin the whole sound was a bit harsh and grainy and there was a bit of sibilance. Now with the Cayin it is all fixed. The sound is soooOOooo detailed but smooth and although not warm, it is not bright - just natural, yet still fun and exciting. Sound-staging is great, centre vocals are in front rather than inside the head and the in-between parts are there as well. The ONLY thing I can think of that I would like would be a lower extended frequency response. It sounds just fine, but I know that it only goes to 30hz which leaves another 10hz or so information on the CD that I can not hear So basically I am not only happy with this setup, but can not see any way in which it could be improved. I'd like to thank N@Z for recommending the K1000's and all you other guys and gals here for helping me out on things. Also good luck to all you searching for headphone nirvana! I have got here, so I'm sure you can too! Here is a nice picture of the Cayin with the K1000 on top - *gloat mode off* As for the speaker setup, there is still some room for improvement. I am going to be doing some acoustic treatment (DIY of course) over the xmas holiday. Then I will add a sub. After that maybeeee a pre-amp and just use the Cayin for power. Cheers,

Is there really that much difference in sound quality from the A2 and the Revo?? I had an A2 for a while and it sounded damn good to me! I have now moved onto a professional sound card (Edirol DA2496) and the sound quality isn't THAT different. Why not take your cans to a shop and have a listen to both cards? There must be a shop with the card in a computer already. Cheers,

Okay so I have the first two eps of FMP2! But it does seem kind of silly. The characters have changed quite a bit. They are more stupid lol! But.. it was kind of funny. I have a question though. Why is Sousuke at school now? The bad guys are dead! And also why does Chidori sill act like 'ooh don't be silly nothing bad will ever happen' when she has been though all that with giant metal robots and brain washing and.. everything. Has she just forgot it all? But even so.. it was nice to watch Chidori in a bathing suit
