  1. I think that digging your ears are very harmful in the long run unless you have a physical item in there (which i think is very weird). Instead, try using ear wax remover ear drops like most of us do here. Much more effective but requires at least 4-7days of continous use to fully remove those stubborn wax in those hard to reach areas. You will definitely hear a big difference and will be able to appreciate the music more. Wow, I have only ever used cotton buds! Perhaps I am not obtaining the full sonic abilities of my ears!? Where can I get some of this ear drop? Just go to the chemist and buy it over the counter? Have you ever tried the ear candles?
  2. I have seen this little gizmo that is a toy car that winds up and then you put it on the record and it runs round it and plays it not exactly quality sound but damn coool! Maybe even cute!
  3. Cheers Mackie, I read that review just before I wrote that other reply! It's a good review, really makes it sound like a good product! Also the thing about modding the caps and op-amps looks interesting to play with later. Just curious, what is your system that you use with it? Oh and what is the new one? I couldn't see one on the Behringer site.
  4. Well as I have been outbid 3 times in a row for 3 diferant PSX-R's on ebay to upgrade my Cyrus amp I will just give this EQ a shot! Afterall, buying on creditcard means I can take it back if I am not satisfied!! I will order one on Monday and give my impressions when it arrives... The last thing I got on the advice of people here I was exreeeemly pleased with! Thanx for ya help and wish me luck!
  5. Hope you enjoy them! What do you think of the sound? Did you also listen to the Philips? If so maybe you would like to do a comparison!
  6. Hmm.. not really! lol! I am intending to use it with speakers by the way, not headphones.. just thought I should make that clear as this is a headphone web site The only real worry I have about this EQ is the d/a and a/d converters. I think I have decided to go for the amp upgrade though, but I would still appreciate any input about the 8024 as I may still get one later!
  7. It's not that I can't hear it. I measured it with a microphone and there is a roll off around there. I tested my hearing up to 21Kz....so I dunno why no one in your class can hear past 17Khz!! It seems quite worrying!
  8. Mackie, you have got me interested in the 8024 now! How much difference did it actually make to your system? Like, big upgrade or just a slight change. Did it change the character of your system? I have saved up the money for an amp upgrade, but now I am tempted by this! I think I would find it useful as I use my Hi-Fi as the monitoring system for my studio as well as music listening. So it would be nice to be able to switch from a flat frequency response for studio use and the standard character of my setup to listen to music. Even for standard music listening I think it would be nice as I have a bass suck out at about 30-45Hz and a treble suck out at about 17Khz-20Khz (speakers go to 30Khz so it shouldn?t be there in my opinion) Also how dos it connect up? I have an integrated amp so it can't go between pre and power. I would only really care about my CD player and computer having this. What of the sound quality? I don't like the idea of putting my Cd players lovely output through a cheapo d/a converter! Thank-you for any info!
  9. How are you guys planning to connect the wires to the motherboard? I doubt the plugs needed for the motherboard are standard things you can get from RS Components or Maplin or whatever and soldering straight onto the motherboard seems a little nasty! What sort of motherboard is it? If it is the sort with the audio outputs on a separate back plate then it may just be that it is not connected correctly to the motherboard!
  10. Damn word wrapping! I spent time drawing a nice ascii art cake for ya' and it ended up screwed! So here is a screenshot of it instread lol!
  11. I think its more likely a scam Is it worth am email to ebay saying 'look at this naughty person' ?
  12. Guys look ta this! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...0&category=3280 Its a Cyrus 1 amp. £10 starting bid... but look at the postage price!!!!! I just hope no one will fall for this and make a bid!
  13. Ah ha!! Look what I dug up The output impedance of the amplifier should basically be the resistance of the two resistors in parallel. Try starting with R2=10 ohms (1/2W) and change the value of R2 up or down to adjust volume, Obviously with this amp you have a volume control so it will not be THAT essential.
  14. Anybody know if I could get this in england? I don't have a decent pair of portable headphones... YET! Hmm... I wonder why no one makes microphones from wood!?
  15. Which headphones do you use? There are converters for the purpose of using headphones off of the speaker outputs of power amps. They can be DIYed with minimum ease. They are just a resistor network. I saw a few circuit diagrams on headwize a while ago.. I can't find them now but I bet someone else here knows where to find one for ya! It's basically the same thing as the RKV impedanzer, but works the other way around. Hope this helps! EDIT: Shouldn't this be in the equipment forum?
  16. OMFG! My dad said he got 172 in the last 'proper' IQ test he did, which was at university. Lol that must be about 30 years ago though! hahah... Smartarse It would be cool to create a poll with the I.Q. results.
  17. SWEAT!!! Now if they expanded into makeing active tube studio monitors... In one of your pictures there is a sub.. is that tube powerd as well? Any comments on the sound headphonecrazy?
  18. It always REALLY annoys me when the sound system for a show/concert/club/something is driven to the point of distortion. Its like the engineer cant hear that it sounds sh*t! We blew out an active Mackie PA subwoofer at college during rehearsal for a gig. That was fun! The band played and when the chorus came the bass just went crazy and the highs on the mid-high speaker were clipping badly. Then it went okay for a moment then the bass went MAD and it cut out. I think there must have been DC passing through the bass driver. A room the size for about 300 people, although only 10 or so were in there and everyone was holding their stomachs because of the bass! That?s the first time I have seen and experienced a 500watt RMS subwoofer blow up!
  19. My score was 103. An IQ score in the range of 90-110 is considered "average intelligence". My strongest point was logic! I read VERY slow though! I know it sounds like I am covering for my poor result (I am), but I do not believe in IQ tests. They only test maths and a tiny bit of logic as far as I see. The important things in life are skills and experience, not intelligence. I feel my strongest point is not logic, but rather to know what I want and to make it happen! Still, well done to those that did get a good score!
  20. I am currently building a FM radio in a O\ZON tin! It will have battery, speaker and scan button I don?t know about a volume control though... I'll take a picture when it is done! At the moment it has only worked on the work bench and not put together in the tin yet. Also the output transistor overheats. I'll have to heat sink or change that. I also have a 2Watt RMS per channel speaker amp in a tobacco tin. It can be run from a 9v batt or from an external power supply. It only achieves full power on the latter. I'll take a picture of that too! Before that I built an amp in a box from maplin.. about 7x3x4 inches (WxHxD) With transformer on board, support for phono, 5pin-din and capable of driving 6 pairs of speakers! What?s next I hear you ask? Well I am planning to make a 5.1 surround amp, projector and DVD player on a pin head!!! What is the smallest/best thing you guys have built in a mint tin or alike?
  21. I find sometimes a page on SG'phones will get about a quarter of the way and then slow dramaticly or even stop. If I just press refresh it will start again, but this time go nice and fast. I'm on Telewest Cable 512k.
  22. 100th post!!! Wooohoooo!!!! And naughty Wortel for posting in here when you 'only' have 770 posts! Wait im naughty too... bah! How can someone even manage to post 70 in one day!!!!??? Not enough time in the day for me to do that lol!
  23. White noise is meant to be random noise at all frequencies, right? So wouldn't that be the best thing to use for burn in? ...just my thinking My new pure silver cable for the K1000 is still burning in after 2 weeks! Only a few days ago did it start to really loosen up and yes it has fixed the harshness. Must search for second-hand PSX-R now... Hope you enjoy your new phones Gouki!!
  24. Bass resposnse of the K66 isn't powerfull or warm but it is well extended, tight and clean. They extend from 18Hz to 22KHz. If it helps anyone, to my mind they sound alot like the Alesis M1 MKII Active speakers in terms of tonality and clarity.
