red_ryder 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 I really enjoy listening to music with female vocals, accompanied by acoustic instruments or a small band. Usually the tempo is slow, or sometimes swinging. Eg. Diana Krall, Eva Cassidy, Corrine May, Laura Fygi. Any more to recommend?
N@Z 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 Try Lisa Ono if you don't mind vocals in a foreign language (Italian?) her voice is so smooth. Try also Sarah McLachlan especially freedom sessions very intimate (and haunting even). Finally also another one of my favourites before discovering SMcL, Jewel. Look out for her 2nd & 3rd albums which I much prefer & recording is very good to the first (ok) & current one (too modern/contemporary).

yongchris 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2004 Christy Baron http://www.chesky.com/catalog/body_catalog...0008&CATEGORY=1 and Dave's True Story. http://www.chesky.com/catalog/body_catalog...0008&CATEGORY=1 Both are by the Chesky label. Good recordings, great music. The former does more classic jazz covers while the latter plays all originals. btw, they are listed as $15.95USD on the chesky site, but you can get them for abt $21 at gramaphone. Those of you who like recordings with ambient sounds (eg trinity sessions and freedom sessions), Dave's True Story - Sex without Bodies, is recorded in a church with no overdubs, it sounds brilliant.
