N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 (edited) In anticipation of the move to the new host lets come up with some Sub Topics. So far we have: Classifieds (For Sale/Wanted) General Music Headphones Others (Source/Amp/Cables/DIY/Tweaks/etc) Best to think of something that will generate post interest & not to get too overboard probably make it simple even. I will update this list as we go along based on the general concensus of members. Edit: Modified adhoc proposal: PRIMARY/MAIN FORUM 1. Headphones - Headphones Main Forum - User Reviews : Headphones (sticky type) 2. Others (Source/Amp/Cables/DIY/Tweaks/etc) - Others Main Forum - User Reviews : Others (sticky type) SECONDARY FORUM 1. Classifieds (For Sale/Wanted) - Equipment : For Sale/Wanted Ads - Services : For Sale/Wanted Ads [DIY vendors go HERE] (sticky type) - Special Deals/Mass Purchases (sticky type) 2. Music 3. Useful Addresses [maybe w/ prices(?)] (sticky type) 4. Off Topic/General Forum (fun/girls/games/mass outings/etc) Subject to final approval from admin. Blues 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 that's good enough for me adding more will not be productive as we do not have alot of active members
Sipher 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 yes i agree too. i think we can generate new sub topics if there's a need to in the future. those that N@Z suggests are good enough
adhoc 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 (edited) dont forget User Equipment Reviews and Relevant Addresses (SACD/DVD-A stores, equipment stores, etc) Edited June 9, 2003 by adhoc
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 hey, nice suggestion on relevant addresses.. I suggest relevant addresses can be classified together with pricing I mean.. shop name , what it's selling.. and for how much much better and organised, imo
jasonhanjk 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 How about DIY vendors? DIYers will make an amp or something when some people requested?
adhoc 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2003 DIY vendors? i doubt that there is such a large market of them here. anyway they should post in classifieds then.
N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 OK some good suggestions. However we will try to maintain a simple format as far as possible. User equipment reviews we can put up a sticky thread like currently on the top of the relevant Forum. Relevant addresses Under one sticky as well but where shall we put that? Classifieds? DIY vendors Now we are treading on slightly sensitive ground, to avoid any conflicts, similarly it should be under one stickiy (no discussions other than outside of that thread) and just indicate the individual's SGH nick, contact (PM/email/phone/etc) and what service they offer. Since it is business related should they be charged a minimal/miniscule fee(?) to have their details posted? Something like "Mall-Fi". We could have that on the Classified Forum as well. adhoc 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 N@Z, ok here we go: PRIMARY FORUM 1. Headphones - Headphones Main Forum - User Reviews : Headphones 2. Others (Source/Amp/Cables/DIY/Tweaks/etc) - Others Main Forum - User Reviews : Others 3. Music SECONDARY FORUM 1. Classifieds (For Sale/Wanted) - Equipment : For Sale/Wanted Ads - Services : For Sale/Wanted Ads [DIY vendors go HERE] - Special Deals/Mass Purchases 2. Useful Addresses [maybe w/ prices(?] 3. Off Topic Forum (fun/girls/games/mass outings/etc) i think this should be enough to cover anything that we'll ever expand into. what do you think? not too complicated and yet comprehensive. N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 That's a very good suggestion adhoc, nicely laid out. I'd only move Music into the Secondary Forum.

ablaze 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 wow. you all have a lot of big ideas. i don't mind having a few more sub-forums. but I'm not too for having too many forums. imagine if there're only about 20 of us core guys around now, and our posts being split into various forums, it won't look as alive as it does now. we came from head-fi, yes, but we're really not head-fi yet. we have what, 4000 posts, they have 400,000 posts! just my 2cents. I'm not gonna impose my opinions here, so if the bulk of you really want the multi-forums, I'm democratic ideally I'd think something like 3 main forums would do 1. main forum 2. classifieds 3. maybe all the rest that don't fit? ablaze 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 how about: main "hardware" forum (encompassing phones, amps, sources, cables, etc) subforums: -->classifieds -->others (encompassing music, general crapping ) this way we have our one main page and we can navigate to the sub forums easily. (like it is now)
Mackie 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 The ideas are good so far but some can be shelved for later as and when volume grows. I suggest the following: 1. Main forum a. Headphones and related b. all the rest of AV 2. Articles/reviews a. Info on pricing and dealers covering each product 3. Classifieds
N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I kinda like adhoc's suggestion so I'm gonna bump it up to the 1st post of this thread with some slight modifications to the suggestions made above.
