  2. Why over kill it only Price: $299 (casy & carry) functions wise overkill.. have you hear it?? any impressions? At $299 it is a good contender vs the marantz CD5400
  3. WOW the OPPO is a all in one.. alittle bit overkill... the TSlim modded is $650.. way out of his budget perhaps a used set

  8. There is a Marantz CD72 SE selling for only $90 with remote.. looks like a good start to try marantz sound
  9. I would like to share with you what Mackie had shared with me... this is how to test the lens.. CHeers.. 1. Load cd and press play. Take note of the time taken to scan the disc. Marantz is usually a tad slower but if it takes longer than 5 sec, this implies a weak/dirty laser. 2. Play the first track completely and if this goes on without a glitch, press skip and skip and skip until u reach the last track. If the machines hangs during skip, it also warns of a weak/dirty laser. 3. When u reach the last track, play some of it and then press "fast forward", resume play for a while and then press "fast reverse". If no problems arise from this process, I can safely say the laser is alright. 4. Last but no least, listen for any unnatural noise when loading/playing the cd. As this could warn of faltering transport mechanism. In a cdp, the parts that wear out are laser pickup and springs that help to eject and retract the cd tray.

  14. Erm, bro, its the same cable as a ER4P. The top part is the same, right down to the texture and flexibility. The bottom part of the ER4P got the protective sheath that the Westone dun have. The plugs are the same. The new ER4P's cords will have small little white markings on their top cord. Same as my recabled UM2. Westone got their cable from a 3rd party and I think many IEMs company does as well. I forgot how the ER4P cable looks like.. are they having the same thickness as well.. but comparing to my ER4S's cable, the UM2 is still a far fetch.. I believe with a thicker better cable the UM1 and UM2 have protential to sound even better. Imagine the Drivers of the IEM as speakers and the IEM cable as speaker cables. Westone's one is like low gauge cheapo cable that comes default with the speakers.. and a better thicker cable is always prefered to maximise the speaker's protential.. Thanks all for the reply. Think I'm likely to go with the trading in for Westone UM1. keeping my finger cross.. Oh ya... gonna miss aurvana nice and hard casing.... Good choice you will not regret
  15. no offence to Westone users.. i personally find that their wire are too thin and not thick enough.. Yes they are very comfortable... i believe some cheap unshielded wire are used.
  16. yeah just check the cable i got from LHS is 1694A.. try to go on monday.. recomended by robert.. he said monday he got more helpers on that day unless you want to DIY yrself
  17. for coaxial cable you can try LHS.. i asked robert to recomend and got one with belden cable with canare RCA plugs for abt $20 it sound a little much better then optical cable due to less jtters
  18. got any device to convert vga out to normal tv input?
  19. that is more then 20 yrs ago i sneaked into my parent's room and borrowed my dad's sony walkman and headphone... there where it started.. i begain to know AIwa brand and got my first AIwa walkman. Long time ago the Sony MDR 84 is a very bassy phone.. cost about $70... and slowly i got the limited MDR 94.. hen into earbuds EX71, HJE50, GRado SR80.... and it continues....
  20. why dun make a solar powered amp?? anyone good in electronic.. i need yr advices..
  21. haha... the ETY ER4S is a very good and value for $$$ reference sound can for beginer.. I have used it as a reference when i change myamps, sources ,ic and Power cord.. Nothing can hide the ER4S even the finest details can be heard very easily.
  22. For clarity the ER4S is even better then most mid range Grados.. therefore the ER4P /S is a much better buy.. OF cos you need a amp for the S version it is will blow you into audio heaven then the P version
  23. I would recomend go straight to the ER4P or ER4S... No use getting a mid one and pondering how the higher end one sound... if $$$ is not an issue.. however ER4S is not that expensive if you look hard enough
