  1. Howabout not having a 5uF cap in the diagram altogether? Wouldn't it bring about more details? The cap seems insignificant to me except to colour to sound. But hey, what do i know!?
  2. Blues! lend me your A3 now that u have the EMC!!!
  3. Take back your fishball mini to mini and compare! I'd be interested to find out what you think..
  4. necroist, PM me and i'll try to arrange a time to help
  5. Why dont have NE5532? I'd vote for that... Mod Edit: If you guys want to add in the other op-amps mentioned, I will have to remove the others items (preferably the one's still with '0' votes as the poll can only take 11 items max.
  6. Necroist, LHS Electronics #02-46 in Sim Lim TOWER
  7. Thanks for the writeup on my cable. This is not the first time i'm getting feedback on how the silver just seem to be more listenable than the copper. Sorry to say that my silver wire has run out of stock so no more orders for a few weeks at least.
  8. I got the HA-100 china hybrid amp but its designed for 300ohm sennheisers so its pretty noisy with my grados. I heard from headphone crazy with this 120ohm impedancer it'll sound fine, can someone please lend me theirs for a few days? C h r i s
  9. Deteoriation? Almost any quality <$5/m stock cable will sound more transparent, seemingly wider bandiwdth (more highs, bass).
  10. Hmmm... if i can find the 2.5mm plugs someone here could make one for ya... but as firefox or ablaze (cant remember) mentioned, those plugs wont be as thin as the original hence it might need some filing, etc...
  11. I know a friend who wound his own resistors for his speakers' crossover network with very very thin silver coated copper wire... took him a weekend i think... I also seen diy electrostatic speakers... students have all the time in the world...
  12. Please PM me if u have one for sale, domo
  13. Some of u guys have problems accessing irc due to school/work restrictions right? Try this, it might work for you http://www.caffeine-powered.com It supports private messaging and multiple channels as well!
  14. Ahh, lovely pc speakers. I have a set too, bought it in May here in Australia for AUD$300. Then some were selling them for around $200 in hardwarezone.com.sg later on. Looks like AE was trying to clear stock? Here's an insight into this set for those who own them. The Sound The sub/sat combo does music very well, won't go loud nor fast. I listen without the grills, the sats sounds metallic and etched when the grills are on. The secret behind this sub/sat is the equalisation and some simple DSP. I think the relative response down to 100hz or so is very flat. The sub don't really go low, but it increases the volume of sub-harmonics of the actual frequencies its suppose to produce, those under 100hz. So a 40hz kick drum's 80 and 160hz harmonics is reproduced loudly, not the 40hz itself. This gives the impression that it has low bass. I'm not complaining but they should've made satellites that cover a wider range cos it sucks when the sub has to cover female vocal duties as well. The Sats Although the satellites are in hefty metal enclosures the drivers are shielded. I like the design of the sats, one screw holds everything together and sat can be placed in various angles. http://image.pbase.com/u26/fishball79/uplo...2580.Aego2sat04 .jpg The Sub The subwoofer uses 5mm mdf with an additional layer of 5mm at the bottom (explains the screws). Basically too thin and will shake along at high bass. Internally, 2/3 of the sub box is meant for the sub enclosure, the other 1/3 for a surprisingly large IE transformer. A plastic moulded box seperates the amp from the sub. The oval driver on the front of the sub is actually a passive radiator made out of moulded plastic. The actual active driver is a 4.5" midrange driver that is located at the bottom rear of the sub behind the metal plate! Modifications I did very little, basically replacing the speaker cables, interconnects and internal wiring of the sats. It improved resolution noticeably. I also placed the sub on a diy plinth as my current room's floor is wooden and carpeted. Holidays are coming and I would want to fiddle more with the sub section. Here's what I plan to do Sticking car dampening bitumen pads on the sides of the sub Replace wiring inside sub Disconnect the input jack on the front of the sub, its very very noisy
  15. If possible aim for 2 way bookshelf active monitor speakers or basically good sounding speakers that don't come with sub. At that price u'd sacrifice some bass for much better sound quality. Can always add a cheap china made sub later.
  16. Well, if you can get a cd transport with AES/BEU out (pro audio standard for digital out) you can plug it into the Behringer and use that as a DAC. Did i say it'll sound 'more stereo'? Don't remember that... Hmm... I found that the automatic equalisation made it even more realistic sounding. Bass is no longer overblown, highs are smoother. The eq can store about 100 eq mappings so you can literally tweak the sound to suit the genre or cd. I only managed to tweak one album, a swing album, but I demo-ed it to everyone who came and they quite liked what they hear. Helped me sell my stuff too.
  17. At that price used is best. TDK's tremor series 2.1s are not bad.
  18. Tropicalrip, Perhaps you never check the site thoroughly enough, its under ACCESSORIES http://www.naim-audio.com/products/headline.html Naim audio is a uk hifi company. All their electronics are deisgned with the power supply seperate. So when you buy the headphone amp u have to buy the power supply, they offer several grades from the basic few hundred dollar NAPSC to $6000 (thats right) Super Caps. The rest can tell u more. One even owns the headline and modified it too.
  19. I found a 31band eq s/w but it didn't work.. those would work better than foobar's. I think foobar's one too primitive. What we need is a time, frequency and phase equaliser in software... commnicating via firewire to an outboard 24/196 & dsd DAC cum digital dsp 6 way crossover... mmmm
  20. Rameish, Small head mar My grados were used but they were bent outwards so they don't clamp my head. Although i prefer the presentation of the standard bowl pads I use the sennheiser HD414 ones cos they are much comfier, thanks iconic!
  21. I'm bringing, Grado SR-225 Assorted diy interconnects and mini to mini cables HP-100A
  22. Hey thanks guys, im really touched! Just what i need, an inedible cake hehe. Thanks headphone crazy! i love heineken!
  23. Same here!!! I also wanna try the DT-150s!!! Hope to be able to compare them to sr225s & CD3000
  24. I read in TNT-Audio that they reccomend Prodigy's Fat of the Land album to burn in equipment. Personally I've almost never owned any brand new equipment so burn in was never an issue for me Blues, DAB tuners are cheap, 128kbps mp3 quality and hiss free, not sure if Singapore radio statios are DAB compliant already... Tenson, Silver cables takes a long time to burn in. Give them at least 100hrs before you judge them.
