Rameish 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Yes we musn't forget the RVK - magical with the DT-931 less so with the HD-600 - still nice but at that price it need to be magical. Still looking for that elusive amp for the HD-600. sigh

Blues 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 what about headroom MAX? supposedly very good with the hd600? If I am lucky I might be able to get emp by the next meet. See if it can match the hd600 well
lengcm 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Naz change the thread name to Amp for the Sleeping Pill, HD600
N@Z 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Sweet! I wonder if we can convince headphonecrazy to get the MOH!
Blues 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 I thought he has that beefy consonance tube amp for the L3000? that alone is enough to scare the max!
lengcm 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 My current setup do sound pretty good with the HD600. My only complain is that it lack dynamics for certain music...

Q00 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 what about the mg head?
Rameish 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 (edited) Okay here's what I've tried with the HD-600. X-Cans V2 - nice but volume pot inbalance a my listening levels (beginner's amp) Grado RA-1 - see above Grado RA-1 Clone - better but does not have the texture of the RKV Creek OBH-11SE - yuck pui! Murky as hell on a forgy london morning. RKV- very nice but dont like the roll off in the highs - better with the impedencer but not fantastico. PPA - AD-8610 varient - good but sounds too much like a Gilmore - ie bright highs that have a slight glare. META 42 - OPA637/4 stacked buffers with solen signal caps - Have reached the limits of the META 42 design but ya it's nice but not fantastic X-Cans V3 - heavily modded - good performance but at that price (ie S$750 for the base unit and another S$200 to 300 for mods it ain't worth it). Lacks the texture of the RKV Supra/MPX3 - not known. Hehe...forgot about the Corda Prehead AD-8610 - comes closest to the right sound but still lacks a little something. HA-2 LM version - better details but less air so no go. HA-1 MkI - nice but it's really made for the DT-931. Edited November 5, 2003 by Rameish
lengcm 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Quoting tropicalrips hav anyone tried jason's HD600 with his PPA? i think only me & Kenshinz tried it during our "mini meet" in suntec city, i only tried it briefly. first impressions : birght on vocals bass was a suprise good staging i think jason is tweaking it with some new stuff (regulated power supply) bass was a surprise?? bright vocals?? Not too sure what you mean on the bass but I guess for the vocal you were refering to the sibilance?
lengcm 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 (edited) Okay here's what I've tried with the HD-600. X-Cans V2 - nice but volume pot inbalance a my listening levels (beginner's amp) Grado RS-1 - see above Grado RS-1 Clone - better but does not have the texture of the RKV Creek OBH-11SE - yuck pui! Murky as hell on a forgy london morning. RKV- very nice but dont like the roll off in the highs - better with the impedencer but not fantastico. Can be bright and sibilant if matched with the wrong interconnects. Edited November 5, 2003 by lengcm
