av98m 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 (edited) The Ten Tenors - Larger than Life This is definitely an excellent album, the bonus cd with them singing the beegees disco hits nearly had me spitting coffee onto my keyboard! Truly a worthy addition to the cd collection. Tremendously fun to listen to! So Fuwen, do you like it? Edited November 10, 2004 by av98m

wil 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2004 Hi Sigma! Ive heard some good stuff about the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.... Is it classical? How is it? Pardon my ignorance...
sigma 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a rock orchestra (whatever that is ). There's rock influences (drums, guitars) though it still retains elements of classical. Some tracks have lyrics, others don't. I feel it's more rock than classical. It's a pretty fresh way of looking at classical. Great for listening if you're bored with "conventional" classical. Here's the biography of the orchestra, if you want a look: http://www.trans-siberian.com/history/biography.shtml.

N@Z 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Finally got a copy of this CD thanks to a friend. This is definitely my kind of music. Melancholic, lots of melody & atmosphere to the sound. Interesting use of the piano (sometimes with added distortion) instead of guitar so typical of this genere. I laik! Oddly enough the CD I got is like the negative colour as opposed to the above cover art. The CD was bought in Miri, it appears original the Malaysian official hologram sticker indicating it's originality is there.

av98m 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Alison Krauss + Union Station - Live Very nice 2 CD set, from their performance at the Louiseville Palace. I ended up buying the hybrid SACD because I couldn't find the redbook version. Will probably order the redbook on my next amazon.com order.
fuwen 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I believe the SACD CD layer may out-perform the redbook version. Wait for your A/B results.
av98m 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I believe the SACD CD layer may out-perform the redbook version. Wait for your A/B results. Thats the problem. I don't own any SACD cdp, and do not intend to. I'm going to compare the redbook version to the redbook layer on the hybrid sacd to see if it has been deliberately sabotaged to sound worse.(I don't think so though, this is really an excellent recording). av98m 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 (edited) Sixpence None The Richer - Divine Discontent I see from Naz's earlier post he had mixed feeling about this one. Myself I quite enjoy it. Nothing especially outstanding about this album, but its very pleasant to listen to. I'm filing this one under "Anti-Road Rage Music" .
