'A' stands for?

from what I understand (bear in mind I may be wrong), chips come in 'A' and 'B' grades, with the B one being better and more expensive. don't think they 'stand' for anything in particular. guys, please correct me if I'm wrong wink.gif

I want to learn something too guys, can we make a thread out of this? It sure beats doing a search. I just love you guys wink.gif

Vodka + Tomato Juice + Salt = Bloody Mary

Good luck on the soldering. I'm scared for you too.

eric, I bypassed the two caps circled in the diagram already. to me that makes a big difference. unveils the highs, which as always, is just what I like thumbup1.gif

what kind of power supply caps should I change to? some advice, since you're now a Revo owner too wink.gif

Rameish, the SMD soldering's all done already. 3 lil SOIC-8 5532s replaced with 3 AD8620s. everything looks good so far. just hope no cold joints pop up in future luck.gif

Try Panasonic FC version. Choose 1200uF on 50V rating, it has very low impedence.

$2.50 each.

0.029 ohm I think... smoke.gif

got better caps to replace or not? biggrin.gif

Considering that they are in the signal path, I suggest Elna Cerafines. Bypass them with your favourite film cap.

firefox,

hey man. smile.gif I was talking about the power caps actually. I've actually bypassed the signal caps already.

oh yeah, the DC offset is 3mV on left channel. is that ok?

According to Gilmore class A amp, slight increase in DC-offset is ok for high impedence headphone.

Since you are getting the Gilmore lite, it will theoratically offset your DC-voltage to +-1mV.

so you're saying, that even if my source has DC offset of 3mV, the gilmore will 'correct' the offset to +-1mV? (theoretically)

Yup. Just as long you connect the ground output from the soundcard stereo jack to the Gilmore lite common / ground.

Meaning 0V to 0V must be short.

Hi ablaze,

Actually I'm not that kind of tweaks... switching soundcard parts is really like hardcore porn...

The most I'll go is maybe blue tack some coins on the sound card to absorb the vibration/resonance innocent.gif (no offence! hehe)

But all the best with your hardcore modding... I'll follow your progress with great curiosity...

If you burnt your card though, look for me.. I need another digital card..
