tried the full triple customs at stereo PS today..

workmanship was top notch!

and the sound was pretty impressive too... maybe not as smooth and seamless sounding as some other established ones.. maybe not fully burnt in...but still impressive nonetheless.

would the customs be dual bore or single bore?

I am interested too to know whether it is going to be single or double bore. If it is single bore, then it alters the original design radically and I wonder how it affectes the performance.

My review on Reshelled UE triple fi 10 pro.

Walking with IEM

About 3 years ago, i started with just superfi 3. But after getting that, my eyes will fixed on the triple fi 10 pro. Cause i can't hear the difference from superfi 3 and superfi 5 then. Like many, budget was the only hindrance. So as time passes, i lost my superfi 3. So i decided to jump to triple 10 pro. And again i fall in love with customs. But the price was too far even for me to imagine. So every time i read about custom, i drool.

The days with Triple fi 10

When i first audition the triple fi 10 pro, i was captivated by it's soundstage and its superb clarity. Everything was there. I can visualized all instruments. And the kick drum was strong, tight and nice. That was when i tested in the stereo. So i liked it alot when i got hold of it. But i was pretty turn off because of after awhile i don't really like it sticking out and also the isolation was not that good. When i boarded the bus, the bass guitar was totally been eaten off. So i was left with a treble, recessed mid and a thumping bass. Turn off.

Pre-Customizing

I totally missed out the promotion that stereo offer due to ear wax problems. And end up paying the doctor to remove ear wax, getting ear impression, SHIPPING COST and of course, the price of the reshelling.

THE WAIT

I believe many agree with me that the waiting of the custom is agonizing. But, i think i'm a super lucky guy. Why? Cause, i read that people receiving their custom on the mid of 2nd week to 3rd week. But mine took 4 weeks and 1 day. Reason behind it, UM got the wrong colour for my customs. But thankful, the people in stereo were helpful enough to inform me and apologize even though not their fault. And i also don't blame the UM cause, they really got a lot of orders. So Happy Waiting Guys. :D

First Impression

Man, the another reason why i'm so lucky is that UM give me the wrong slot. They gave me the UE slots instead of the ES slots. I almost freak out when stereo say that they wanted to ship back. LOL! Cause it will be another 2 weeks of waiting. So they helped me to fill my ES cable. Actually, it was a blessing in disguise as i could use either the ES cable or the UE cable.

I had hard time putting it on. But the stereo helped me out and guiding me how to put on. I would agree with hellfire that it is tight and a little painful for me - virgin ears, what do you expect?

Isolation

But once i manage to put on back at home, deafening silence is the only phrase to describe it. To put to test the next day, i wear it on the bus and on train. I can hear occasionally voices which i presume that they spoke loudly. And the noise from the bus engine is greatly reduced. By the way, it is a myth that custom block out all the noise.

Comfort

Still getting use to it, i can't tell much. Feel like something stuck in my ears.

Sound Quality

Many will be questioning how close is it to the universal triple fi 10 pro?

I test both the UE cable and ES cable. And i also borrow the triple fi 10 pro from stereo that day. I don't believe burn-in for UE drivers. Maybe cables but not drivers.

I could say that it is super close. ( UE cable) I feel that the custom is even better. Reason behind it? Custom is more detail and the bass i'm looking for is more prominent. But the treble is not compromise. And the soundstage appears to be wider. I think because there is very minimal losses in the music to the surrounding. No sibilance at all.

Personally, i don't really like ES cable when pairing with universal. Though it brings out the mid by a little, it sounds a little muffles and the thumping of the kick drum sounds comprise, less tight ( from memories) . But in the custom, the muffles was not that strong but the kick drum seemed to be same as the universal set. No sibilance at all.

But i still end up with the ES cable because lesser noise when it rubs against my clothes.

OT: So for more kick and clarity, i amped it with ibasso p3 ( not the original op amps). It sounded really good. Clarity improved, kick drum sounds sufficient for me and soundstage is wider. The rest of the instruments were not compromise. Maybe, that is how ue10pro sounds. Haha.

I feel that Custom 10 pro is a more demanding beast. I can hear the slight distortion even from 256kbps. You feed it rubbish, you get noisy rubbish.

Accessories

Nothing much. Pouch, a cleaning kit and a frequency response graph. Oh ya, and the previous body of the iem.

Overall

I like the custom a lot. To the extend where i gave up the idea of buying mid range headphones. Cause the custom sounds really good to me. And finally a piece of advise, expect the unexpected. Haha.
