  2. hmm interesting load of anti hwz sentiments here. how abt vrzone then? LOL. which ever the case, survival of the forums is more important then prejudice. ----------------------------- Registration Service Provided By: System0 Contact: webmaster@system0.net Visit: http://www.815domains.com Domain name: sgheadphones.net Registrant Contact: Influeix Interactive Domain Admin (domains@influeix.com) +65900838 Fax: none 1 North Bridge Road High Street Centre #22-07 NA, NA 179094 SG Administrative Contact: Influeix Interactive Domain Admin (domains@influeix.com) +65900838 Fax: none 1 North Bridge Road High Street Centre #22-07 NA, NA 179094 SG Technical Contact: Influeix Interactive Domain Admin (domains@influeix.com) +65900838 Fax: none 1 North Bridge Road High Street Centre #22-07 NA, NA 179094 SG Status: Locked Name Servers: ns1-monroe.nswebhost.com ns2-monroe.nswebhost.com Creation date: 28 Jun 2004 07:04:35 Expiration date: 28 Jun 2006 07:04:35 Whois-Services: e1501aff-d0d6-4bde-aa44-22f017108962@whois-services.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.influeix.com/shared.html which plan then? some of the mods could probably consolidate some donations and keep everything running. cpanelx is a very easy web management tool anyways, convenient, even has automated table repair function
  3. you can adblock most of the advertisements like most users do you can check out www.carma.com.sg that runs off hwz as well same for http://forums.gameaxis.com/forumdisplay.php?f=159 all subdivisions off the original HWZ then again i'm a deluxe member maybe i wouldnt experience as much adverts over there. due to the large database of sg-headphones, backing up will be an issue as well, more over database management etc. depending on the number of visitors, the bandwidth is questionable too.. but then again if anyone could find a better way to host the forums, i.e. from home, or can find a cheap deal with some hosting service.. then it would be great.. so far i havent be hosting huge stuff, but on average i spend abt $150 hosting 3 domains, on a small 250mb space, but unlimited sql, unlimited emails, and unlimited b/w the SG headphone database would probably be a few times that size, and at the same time needs to be constantly backed up to prevent loss of all the much older pioneering discussions and posts. i would say ablaze has done a very good job in putting everything together and keeping it up for 4 years.
  4. how abt contacting pHing on hardwarezone and ask if we could integrate the whole database into one of their subforums? they host their own servers etc and so far a while back pHing was thinking of setting up a Hometheatre related sub-forum, then again, we could do with a headphone subforum as well. viewership on hwz is much higher as well. moderation system can remain preserved
  5. no worries i guess its his hotmail account.. i hate hotmail because it filters out quite a lot of emails.. they have a pretty lousy spam filter that is highly inaccurate

  7. will the jbl power 20 be able to cope with 1,2 ohm speakers? i'm looking around for a pair of scintillas or duetta IIs..
  8. causeway point, popular bookshop there the cd rama has a 9.90 extension rather thin wire.. audio technica one..
  9. go to any physics lab or related labs...inside should haf.. dont think many people have one at home
  10. where's your source of teflon spc? is it good? how much/m? i've been thinking of buying a gigantic reel of ohno OCC copper to play around with pure silver is available too but dam ex at 17 per metre there abouts.
  11. wah squall.. your kc35 should use higher awg
  12. he means, the lower end, ----- E2G have for sale???
  13. i believe the core wires are of the same specifications, thus allowing it to be used in different colored configurations. in most cable applications, the shielding is use as a ground unfortunately. many ways to play around if you want to explore. you could possibly use 1 white and 1 blue for ground, and 1 white for left 1 blue for right.. heh fun stuff anyways trust your hearing, not solely base on specs. if it sounds right to you, and balanced, everything should be fine
  14. well edwin, you could try using jumpers though. i've heard excellent results when a pair of copper cables were plugged straight into the low frequencie of the speaker, and using silver wire to serve as jumpers for the higher frequencies. bi-amping is not very expensive these days, influx of china amplifiers have brought down the costs tremendously. digital amps like the moles also come in pairs. mackie's way is the conventional way of bi-amping but i've seen alternative versions of cabling depends on whether you use a pre-amp cuz many pre-amps offer more than one pair of outputs to power amps thus making your life much easier. another way of bi-amping is solely using 1 single amp per speaker, i.e. one of your IC carries the left channel signal, one carries the right. the left channel signal goes into both the poweramp's left right channels, the right channel signal goes into the other power amp left right channel inputs too. if you dont intend to bi-amp, then using a single integrated amp you could consider playing around with the cables.
  15. skip a bit during tracks, or skip the whole track??
  16. hmm.. a fellow 903sh user the pic i took on the previous page was also on the 903sh
  17. hmm.. one of my favourite classical pieces.. tchaikovsky's 1812 overture by erich kunzel & cincinnati symphony orchestra with digital cannons speaker killers, but its nice
  18. i missed playing concerto de aranjuez 2nd movement. i still remembering hunting for the score for it online, to realize that rodrigo had actively launched legislative threats to people who "violated" the copyright by posting the score online. got fed up and ended up listening and self transcribing most of it. on a solo guitar's a lot more soulful than what you get with the orchestra. then again a recommendation, julian bream's version of concerto de aranjuez, not sure which symphonic orchestra he did it with.. i misplaced the album cover already, but i felt it was quite an excellent version. the unique creamy sound of a hermann hauser guitar is well put forth, i wanted a similar guitar rather badly back then, but those days a hauser was going for abt 20k. couldnt even afford a ramirez, not to say a hauser lol. if you like guitar music, try narciso yepes, the man with the 10 string classical too. my fav composers for classical guitar would be isaac albeniz, spanish classical, asturias, sevillas, cordoba, etc are excellent tracks. i had not found any spanish classical composer who could capture the spain in such a soulful manner. his music is characterised by either a very melancholic soulful minor key intro, followed by a positive sounding major bridge, and a minor outro, vice versa. bach music on guitar's pretty nice too, i.e. bach's chaconne, fugue in g minor.. great stuff.. as for guitarists, alirio diaz's representation have a very spanish edge to it, john william being rather perfect and clinical sounding (excellent guitar used for recording though, the famous greg smallman guitars.. with crystaline trebles), julian breams - very lute-like playing of the guitar, quick fingered, christopher parkening - technically superior, very perfect renditions pepe romero - very dynamic, definitely puts a certain "feel" and emotion into his music.
  19. would you like to pm mr digi01 with your enquiries? he's a friendly guy, contactable on msn too. although discussion should be kept to a minimal in these forums, from the specs, the ability of the amp to drive an akg k1000, sensitivity 74db 120 ohms, with this size is impressive, the pa2v2 probably wont be able to.
  20. 2 or 3 ohm speakers.. are the toughest to drive.. draws a lot of current.... i would suggest not trying to drive the speakrs with the cmoy2..
  21. my IRS still alive.. currently residing in my living room mine the smaller one though.. 3 ribb twits, 3 ribb mids and 2 x 10 per side.. the IRS 1, which is quite similar to the genesis was like 6 x 8" per side, and probably 10 ribb mids and 6-8 ribb tweeters.. those days dam ex heard that there are 2-3 sets in singapore only and not many in the world the other IRS you refer to is the flagship of infinity back then.. 6 x 12" per side and probably 12 ribb mids and probably 9-10 ribb tweeters lol
  22. arnie nudell's design 20+ years ago he designed something similar for infinity.
  23. one thing, if you are getting from ampslabs dont forget to ask if you could be exempted from the $15 handling fee he charges for amplifier kits etc... cuz he has to sort out lots of parts you're just buying a couple of pots wouldnt need much packaging nor sorting out
