  1. Breaking news, someone I know + a follow sgheadphoner just bought the 50 lb monster of a EMC-1 24/192, and it is not me, guess who?
  2. For anyone who are interested in getting one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...3&category=3274
  3. IMHO for < $100 I'll take the AT's 7 which offers a better price n quality ratio. Personally I do not like any type of in-ear phones simply because they irritates my ear canal badly. But if you are wearing glasses, than the in-ear/over the head type will be more suitable.
  4. Ok just a little of my personal experience with the W9. Compared with the rest of the AT metal clip-ons, the W9 definitely has a more refine and woodie sound. Listening direct-out from my portable cdp, it sounded very much like the "HD650" but minus the extended bass. To simply put it, very neutral, easy on the ears + extremely comfortable. I reckon they will sound even better amped and I will love to listen to them with my soon 2 b delivered "portable" amp that is rave of current head-fi forumers.
  5. I had a headroom cosmic before, prices are a little ex, construction n quality ok, but imho the Meier Cordas are better value for money.
  6. FYI, official retail price in China for the Xindak XF-1000 - RMB630 / S$130 XF-500 - RMB390 / S$80 n ie. b4 discount. Can get the Xindak SCD-2 SACD player for RMB3700 / S$800, while local retail price is almost doubled at S$1500-1600. OT, I think most chinese products are of good quality but are way over-priced in Singapore, with some merchants making a 100-200% profit margin. May be setup business soon to sell Chinese hifi n electronics - 100% profit margin
  7. I got one from the maker of G&W T2A headamp maker of Beijing for myself for much "cheaper", with a meter display.
  8. If you like the Electro Harmonix sound than you should try the Electro Harmonix 6922 Gold which imho provide a better n tighter bass + smoother highs. Alternatively if you are familiar or like the Mullard type of presentation than try their ECC88s or better still the 7308s. My current favorite 88s are the Siemens CCa and the Sylvania GB 6922s.
  9. Have u check what 88 tubes are in the amp?
  10. Sworn to secrecy. Can only say about half the price of a regular HD600.
  11. Just one more left at Hungs. What more can I say, IMHO the greatest sounding clip-ons from AT.
  12. I'm drooling already. This reminded me of the $800 Mont Blanc that my colleague has.
  13. If someone will buy mine Digilux 1, I will upgrade to the 2 when it is available in March next year.
  14. Mine is a Leica Digilux 1, a 4 mega pixel. Bought because it has the biggest LCD viewer then (I think still does) + a rarity in digicam that has a horse shoe for an external flash unit + not to mention it is in a classic "Leica" body no less.
  15. Nice write-up bout the HX-3, it look a little like the Shure amp that I've used for most of mine serious film n video projects.
  16. Here is a macro taken using my Leica.
  17. Update of my home rig. Headamp: MAD EAR+, HP100A Pre-Amp: Graaf Model Two Power Amp: Classe DR-9 Source: Cyrus CD7Q + PSX-R Headphone: ATH-L3000 I/C: Taralabs RSC Air 2, DIY Canare Power Cord: Pirelli DIY Skr cable: Nordost Red Dawn Speakers: Eskmo Electrostatic
  18. Listening right now to the same setup with a borrowed Musical Fidelity X-ray 24-bit cd player. In comparison to the Shinco, the MF sounded bigger, more weight, air and added body to the same piece of music A-Bed. IMO the humble Shinco scored very close and is indeed a worthing contenter as a "cheap n good" source in my book, from the price n performance point of view. A pic of my "dream" headamp with no less of a built-in 24/192 DAC with 4 analog + 4 digital inputs "tease". FYI it will only ship in January 2004, guess what amp this is.
  19. Here is one pic of the 10M - the markings are etched onto the glass, a proof of authenticity no less.
